Chapter Fifteen

❤❤❤Alek’s POV❤❤❤

“Ms. Evans can I use the restroom?”  I rose my hand and she let me go.  We weren’t really learning anything anyways, just watching videos.

I walked out the door and towards the boys’ bathroom.  I looked down all the empty corridors and remembered when I was looking for Aria.  That was before she thought of me as a nice person.  I smiled at the thought, because now she’s mine and only mine.

I pushed open the doors to the bathroom and walked up to the urinal.  After I finished my ‘business’, I quickly went to wash my hands so I could get back to class.

Suddenly I saw a dark shadow dash behind my in the mirror.  I started to panic and look around frantically.  Another flash, and a pressure to my arm made me scream.  It wasn’t a girly scream, for those of you who were wondering.

I looked down as blood trailed down my arm.  It made a disgusting contrast against my pale skin and I started to feel light headed.  Then I fell to the floor.  I tried to keep my eyes open, but the dizziness was over taking my mind.  Right before I passed out, the shadow stood above me smirking.  It had details now that it kept still, and looked like a demon.

Purple eyes, long black robe, dripping fangs, and a snow white face embedded into my brain so that I’d never forget that picture.

“Goodnight, Alek.”  And then everything went black.

I woke up with my hands tied to two poles.  I couldn’t feel my legs, and I felt extremely tired.  I could barely keep my eyes open.  That same shadow I saw in the bathroom stood before me.

“Well well well, looks like Sleeping Beauty is awake.”  He smiled and stepped forward, more of his details coming into view.  He had light blond hair, almost white, and a pointed nose.  His mouth curved up impossibly high, passing normal human restrictions of the mouth muscles.  His shoulders were very narrow, and his back curved up into a small hump.  Long, bony fingers stretched towards the hair in my face.  He attempted to push it back, but I retaliated and flung my head to the side.

A chorus of laughter erupted and echoed off the rotting walls.  That’s when I realized, we weren’t alone.

It got lighter as they opened the ceiling.  Two metal plates slid apart from each other, revealing the time of day.  It looked like it was nighttime.  Unless they were playing tricks on my mind.

“Where am I?”  I forcefully answered.  The shadow that had become more humanly overtime, chuckled darkly.

“You sir, are in The Dungeon.”  I raised an eyebrow, because I was confused.  As it continued to get brighter, I looked around to get my bearings.  Tunnel after tunnel after tunnel.  That what I saw.  All identical, so there was no way for me to know which one I came out of.  He had trapped me.  Then I saw others.  There were more people tied to posts, just like me.  “You just completed the circle Alek, thank you.”

I looked around to see the other people tied to poles.  We were in a circle, just like the shadow had said.  Suddenly the shadow stepped back and lifted his arms.  Everyone tied to poles slowly rose, including me.  I looked up to see that the night sky was not your normal starry night.  The stars weren’t stars, they were ghosts.  It was like a stadium, and they were the audience.  Were me and these people going to duel and fight to the death?  I can’t do this. I’ve never been mean to anyone in my life.

The ghosts moaned, and when the sound got louder it hurt my ears.  I pulled on my restraints, trying to cover my ears somehow but failing.  As the ghosts rose in their seats, the shadow went to stand in the middle of the human circle.

“Attention!”  He yelled, and instantly all the ghosts silenced.  He must be the leader.  “We have gathered here today, to celebrate the capture of the last Gifted!” At that, the ghosts cheered.  The shadow held up his hand.  Were they celebrating my captivity?  “With the help of all of the humans, we shall achieve what we have been working towards for centuries.  Shadows of The Darkness, we shall soon be rulers of the world!”  He screamed and everyone cheered so loud I think my ear bled.  I winced and as the cheering settled down.  A large pole rose from the floor, and opened a small hole in the dome we were trapped in.

“Alek! .. Aleekk!”  I heard someone faintly calling my name.  Or was the just my imagination?  “Alek?!”  No, I’m not daydreaming.  That was Aria’s voice.  Her calling me got louder, “ALEK!!”

And that’s when I saw her, and I knew this was a reality and not a nightmare.
