Chapter Sixteen

❤❤❤Aria’s POV❤❤❤

I think traveling through the tunnels enhanced our powers.  Because all of a sudden we had full control over our powers.  I could hear all the things the girls were thinking.  The one that Avery thought, one about Alek that I won’t hurt your innocent ears with, got me upset.  It only made me more determined to find him, because he was on my mind again.  But now I was traveling through the tunnels with a blush on my cheeks and the girls by my side with Logan and Gavin following close behind.  Taylor and Tyler hurriedly led us the way.

“Are you sure this is the right way?  I’m pretty sure we passed that crack in the wall four times…”  Eve broke the awkward silence, and I released a breath I didn’t know I was holding in.

“Yeah, we know the way. We were trained to memorize all the routes of these tunnels,” Tyler replied.  Eve looked around, “I hope your’e sure about this.”

“Don’t worry, we got this,” Taylor reassured her.  With one more turn of a corner, I heard a faint, “Attention!”  It sounded like how a principal would silence the student body at an assembly.

“This way!”  I said, and started running towards the noise.  The dwarves, Jess, Avery, Eve, Gavin, and Logan followed me close behind.  I felt my hair flow behind me as I rushed towards the voice.  The voice continued, “With the help of all of the humans, we shall achieve what we have been working towards for centuries.  Shadows of The Darkness, we shall soon be rulers of the world!”  I silently thanked the evil being for being so loud.  We would’ve never been sure that the dwarves were taking us the right way.

“Alek! .. Aleekk!”  I screamed his name, wondering if he was there, “Alek?!”  But as I ran into the room, I was sure he was here.

“ALEK!!”  I saw him.  There he was, tied to two posts.  I never seen him look so…weak.  I almost started crying, because he look so tortured.  As everyone joined me in the room, I actually took a look around.  There were lights everywhere, and other people were there too, four to be exact.  They were tied to poles and looked even worse than Alek.  In the middle of the room a really tall pole.  It rose above us and went through an opening in the roof.  And finally, my eyes settled on the demon standing in the middle.  It was truly frightening to look at, with it’s purple eyes and an non-human shade of skin.  The Shadow slowly turned to me.

“Well well well, isn’t it Alek’s little friends.  Did you come to save him?”  He smirked, looking straight at me.  I pushed my glasses up the bridge of my nose and stood my ground.

“Let him go.”  I calmly tried to persuade the Shadow, knowing already he wouldn’t give in.  I knew what he was thinking after all.  Then a flash went through me.  I saw blood, skeletons, and bruises.  No, is this what the were doing to Alek?  I’m going to murder these little doodoo bags.

The Shadow chuckled, “I’m afraid I can’t do that little Miss.  Alek is mine now.”  With that, I exploded.

“DO YOU KNOW WHO I AM?!  I’M FREAKING ARIA SILVERWOOD.  IF YOU DON’T GIVE ME BACK WHAT WAS MINE FIRST, I WILL JACK YOU UP.”  My face was red from screaming, and out of the corner of my eye, I could see Alek trying to hold in a laugh.  Avery stepped forward to join me.  The confidence surged through me as everyone else followed suit.

Suddenly, I heard water rushing.  I looked around and saw that water from each of the tunnels was being carried by some source towards us.  Avery.

The Shadows all grew quiet, their leader looking up at the small tsunami Avery was making.  “Let them go.”  Avery didn’t only speak for Alek, but also for the other people who were tied up.

The Shadow chuckled, “I’m sorry my dear, but I just can’t do that.  We’ve been waiting for far too long.”  His features grew sinister as he raised his arm and all the ghosts rose from their seats, gathering in the center by their leader.  “Now, together, we will be unstoppable!  Form together my brethren!”  With that, they built on top of each other, with the Shadow for a head.  They formed a huge dragon out of their own bodies.  It was both amazing and horrifying to witness. Everyone was terrified at the product.

“ATTACK!”  The Shadow screamed and the ghosts, as one, moved together towards us.  It was now or never.  I stood my ground, and hoped for the best, but expecting the worst.
