“Emmaline Johnson?”

Tumayo agad ako at pumunta sa Director. “So ikaw ang interpreter ni John?” I nodded in response.

Dapat di ako magkakamli rito, dream job ko to pati idol ko si John. It has been my dream to meet him and now, it is finally happening!

“Kausapin mo si John tungkol sa speech nya para makapagready ka,”

They guided me up to the dressing room where the popstar is staying. I knocked and there’s no response.

I knocked again but then nothing.

I waited at the door for more than 1 minute.

“Mr. Dixon! We need to talk about your speech!” sumigaw na ako, baka di kinig ang pagkatok.

Kakatatok na sana ulit ako ng bumukas ang pinto.

“Sir?!”

John was half-naked, his abs showing. He quickly realized and closed the door once again.

I was breathing heavily. What’s happening?

I waited for the door to open again,

My heart was beating so fast, he’s too handsome to begin with.

“Emmaline, pasabi kay Sir Dixon na malapit na ang mga stylist nya.'' I gave the staff a thumbs up and watched her walk away but then again, I was startled by the opening of the door in front of me.

“Pasok,”

I nodded and held my things tightly. My heart, please calm down.

Pinapaupo nya ako sa kanyang tabi.

“So first things first, I wanted my speech to start with a phrase I love saying.”

I took some notes and looked at his eyes. He was so beautiful and it’s making me unfocused. “What phrase?” I asked him.

“I love you,”

he said without breaking eye contact. Good thing I was wearing my mask, if not he can see me blushing.

We talked and talked about his speech until his stylist and make-up artist came. “See you at the stage Emmaline,”

he smiled at me while waving. I waved back even though my hand was shaking due to excitement at kilig.

My cheeks automatically blushed.

“Can I take you out for dinner Emma?” John said while fixing his things while everyone was busy. “What if they found out?”

He closed the door and held my hand tightly. “I will try my best to remain lowkey but still, I want you to experience normal dates.”

After a year, we started dating and the staff never knew, it’s just us and the world.

“Emma, can I court you?”

“Okay, what resto are we going?” I smiled at him and he gave me a light peck on the tip of my nose.

But I didn't realize how popular and big my boyfriend was.

We’re the happiest but we became broken.

“What happened?!”

My mom called me and told me that my dad had an accident.

The accident was in purpose, by a fan of my boyfriend’s

I turn off my tv, the headlines are creeping me out.

“This is your boyfriend’s fault!” my mom slapped me and felt thick liquid dripping onto my skin. 

“His fans are fucking maniacs. Look what they did to your father! He is in critical condition!” She cried and cried for weeks but I can't blame her. My dad, the love of her life, his life is in a thin line because of me, dating a popular popstar.

We stayed silent and felt the awkward atmosphere. “Mom, i’m sorry,” i tried to calm her down but we almost lost our breath when we heard the heart monitor

“Doctor!” I screamed at the top of my lungs.

“Daddy stay with us!” I held his hand but he never held me back.

It was already late,

He was dead.

I was mourning my dad for weeks, not seeing my boyfriend. “Emma, we need to talk.”

“You’re fired,” the CEO of John’s company said.

My dream job that I studied for years and years, is just that?

“Wait, can’t you just-”

“We don’t want you anymore,” they cut my words.

“Can’t you consider?!”

The guards came up to me and put some handcuffs  into my bareskin.

“Emma, I’m sorry but there is nothing to consider.”

I lost my job, lost my dad and now what.

I’m losing myself.

“Emma!” I heard familiar shouts outside my door.

“Emma, pls open the door!”

I waited a lot of minutes, 8 minutes to be exact.

“We should end things John,”

“I can’t do this anymore.”

I said to him while sobbing so loudly. “No, no, no. Emma, I can leave my work just to be with you.”

He started kneeling down which shocked me. “What are you doing?”

“Stand up John Adryan!”

He didn’t move, he’s just there.

“Will you marry me Emmaline Johnson?” he asked with a smile but his eyes had tears ready to come down.

“I’m sorry but I can't accept your proposal.”

Then I started to run away. I saw a light coming to me. Hearing a lot of shouting, I smiled at him and said my last words to him.

“You’re the Special Pain that I have received.”
