A/N: The promised sequel to flowers for you is here!
---------------------
These look like apology flowers and that smile too looked apologetic.
When Hyunjin opened his door already frazzled because he wasn't expecting any visit, he couldn't help but think so upon staring right at that bouquet and his boyfriend's face. The bouquet was lovely but it was a staggeringly weird and unique combination of lily of the valley, out of season spring crocus and two roses: one yellow and one red that definitely stand out.
Hyunjin was used to receiving flowers now but that was a new combination and he knew Seungmin well enough to know that it was planned.
"Seungmin?" he whispered.
That apologetic smile turned into a grimace. "Hey baby. We need to talk."
Talking wasn't necessarily bad. The two of them talked all the time but Seungmin believed in confronting a problem head on. Hyunjin believed so too even though he was sensitive. Their relationship included a lot of head-on confrontations, muffled by sweet words and gestures especially after waiting for so long to be together. They had grown into a healthy and respectful relationship. Well, it had always been so but now it was loving too.
So talking wasn't bad although it was scary and after Seungmin finished explaining the situation to him, he was grateful. He still sniffled and needed a moment, glad to be in how own room at his dorm rather than at home with Seungmin. It helped to draw boundaries.
"I really didn't plan this I swear. I love you more" Seungmin explained once more, clutching the flowers for dear life.
Hyunjin smiled but didn't look him in the eyes, afraid of crying like a child (or well, himself). He needed to be strong otherwise he'll crumble and if there was one thing out of many that he learned with Seungmin it was how to be strong.
Because Seungmin had just told him that he had feelings for someone else. They were new and he proclaimed to love him more. He didn't know the other person so well and he wasn't actively engaging to learn more about them but he believed in being honest. Hyunjin appreciated the care that Seungmin was showing because many would just omit and lie and the problem would escalate. Feelings don't simply go away; like his own loving feelings for so many years or like the dread currently crawling inside him.
"I believe you" he said.
"Please look at me. I swear it's only a small crush. We've just been spending a lot of time together and she really is nice. I have a thing for nice people" Seungmin cackled, so did Hyunjin "but I will keep my distance after our work is concluded or I'll ask for a switch."
Hyunjin shook his head "That won't be fair on her and will look bad on you." Because Kim Serimji was a junior vocal coach assigned to Seungmin's team for a unit collaboration he was part of. He'd heard from Seungmin on other occasions that she was professional and she pushed him to be a better singer. Hyunjin; who loved his singer and his singing, was grateful for her for it.
"I love you more" Seungmin repeated.
Hyunjin, again, believed him. Seungmin was decent. More than decent because others would have tried to ignore it. Seungmin respected him enough to let him know what was going inside him even though Seungmin sometimes found words hard. It didn't mean that Hyunjin didn't feel like he was breaking inside but that couldn't be avoided. He was worried too because Seungmin didn't always appreciate the feelings inside and maybe he was breaking himself over catching feelings even though feelings sometimes couldn't be avoided. It was actions that were important and which Hyunjin used to judge someone's character.
