Still Flowers For You [SeungJin]

Chapter 2

A/N: Short chapter but the starting ones will be short so there isn't too much going on as transitions between scenes need to make sense. Already working on the third chapter;)

It was weird dethatching from that hug and feeling parts of them be displaced. It was weird not looking at each other for more than a second at a time, eyes shifting constantly from each other to the room and back.

Seungmin asked him once more if he was sure.

He replied yes.

What do they even do now? Do they hug again? Do they awkwardly say goodbye? Wave? That moment had such a sense of finality. Yes, they would still be family but something will never be the same again between them. Something didn't feel in its right place. Hyunjin felt as disorientated as when he usually wakes up and doesn't know what hit him.

Should Seungmin take his stuff now? Should he leave some things behind since they were still friends?

So many questions and when there are questions...

"We need to discuss this" they said at the same time.

Hyunjin giggled and then he cried a little because they were still attuned. Something had shifted but not so much that it wasn't recognisable and it was jarring. Hyunjin preferred clean cut changes like when he had first moved to the dorm from his parents'. One day he lived there and the next he was staying at the dorms like fast-paced travels that didn't let you take in the change. This felt like slow-travelling where you can't help but acknowledge all the changes around you.

Seungmin looked at him like an imploring puppy but he stayed strong and gestured for them to sit down. They sat on the warm floor because sitting down on a bed would feel too intimate. They had just showered together but Hyunjin needed some distance now. His heart wouldn't make it otherwise.

"So I'm still your family too, right?" Seungmin asked.

Hyunjin didn't like the apprehensiveness that coloured Seungmin's voice. He had no right being insecure about something like that.

"Of course! We need to be mature about this" he said, trying to convince himself more than anyone else because he was so scared "Decent men are hard to come by you know, even as friends. I may be dumb but I'm not stupid."

"Hyunjin. You're not dumb."

"See! Exactly my point. Super decent." He said, pointing at Seungmin repeatedly until Seungmin grabbed his finger and then just held it.

Hyunjin smiled at the other while looking at him. Seungmin smiled back. Seungmin finally let his finger go and strangely, it felt warmer than the rest of his body although that wasn't so strange. Seungmin always made him feel warm and it stood to reason that even now he had that effect. Feelings hadn't changed...Seungmin had just acquired new ones outside of the ones they shared between them.

Hyunjin started playing with his plush carpet, running his fingers – one of which still felt warmer - like he wished to run them through Seungmin's body. There won't be any of that now so his carpet was getting some cuddling in the near future.

"What about Miya-ya? What about...home? Like your family home" he finally asked. It was clear that they would still be in each other's lives even if in a different capacity. Hyunjin lived with the two when not at the dorm. Just this morning he had dropped Miya at her dance summer school. She was staying with her aunt and cousin for two days after and Hyunjin was glad that they were having this crisis now. Time was a luxury in their world.

"What do you mean? Don't you want to be in her life anymore?" Seungmin sounded sad so he quickly reassured him that when he had agreed to help take care of her, he had meant it. The commitment went beyond their relationship. Her parents were working in another city and she wanted to stay in Seoul so they had agreed to be her primary caretakers. That went above anything else. He had promised and he wanted to keep that commitment. Children needed to be taken care of.
