Chapter 18: The newborns

Edward -recount when the crash happened-

I was driving to get some more baby things for Bella.

Our baby is going to be born in a day.

The vampire pregnancy is quicker than a human one as it only takes four weeks for the baby to grow.

Anyway I was nearing a set of traffic lights when it happened.

Jacob was speeding the other way.

It was winter so it was icy on the roads.

Jacob's car hit a patch of ice and started spinning around.

Cars far away stopped quickly.

Unfortunately for me I was the only one who could not escape.

Jacob's car smashed into mine and I blacked out.

It's black and painful.

I couldn't move, it reminded me of the coma I was in when I was little.

I knew my dad had bitten me.

It was because I was going to die otherwise.

My thoughts drifted to Bella and the baby .

Was Bella okay while I was like this.

Was the baby okay.

All those questions drifted through my head.

I felt a squeeze on my hand.

It was Esme my mum.

I knew she knew dad had to do this to me and I will be fine at the end of it.

I would not be human anymore.

They could be as rough as they wanted with me.

That's a good thing right?

"Bella has had her baby and they are fine, you have a little son." my mum said never letting go of my hand.

Suddenly the pain intensified as more voices entered my head.

They all had some concern for me.

I couldn't hear Bella's but I understood why.

I heard a small new voice.

Baby Elijah.

Dad came into the room.

I felt my body hit the floor.

My eyes shot open.

I saw Sam, a member of Jacob's pack standing on me in wolf form.

He stared at me hard.

I gave him the same intensity.

I could hear his thoughts.

You killed Jacob you die.

"He died of his own stupidity." I spat.

Mum and dad were watching with confusion.

"I can hear thoughts." I said.

They nodded and Sam left.

Suddenly all the adrenaline I had during that stand off left and I was feeling weaker.

I got up slowly and walked towards my dad but like when I was small I fell over.

Dad caught me in time.

"Thanks." I said.

"No problem."he said.

"Edward your eyes are golden." my mum said.

That is weird as Bella and normal newborns have red eyes just after they turn.

Bella ran in and held me close to her.

She was dry sobbing.

He shield was done allowing me to hear her thoughts.

I was so scared.

Her shield was back up so I could not hear anymmore.

I kissed her.

Alice came in with our little boy.

He had my hair colour and Bella's eye colour.

He was really cute.

Alice gave him to me and I held him carefully.

He smiled when he saw me.

I tickled him the way me and Bella loved it when we were smaller.

His laugh was like mine.

The rest of the day was spent relaxing and me getting used to being a vampire.

My dad gave me some animal blood he had in a bottle.

I knew trouble was going to come soon but for now I just want to enjoy the peace.
