With her sketchpad out, Marley lay on her back with her pen in the air as she scribbled down a few more details of Max's board, MADRID printed out in bold pink letters on its underside halfway through an ollie.
"Bub!"
"Yeah?" Marley called back, smiling as she perfectly curved the nose of Max's face.
"Can you help me?" Max asked and she sat up, sketchpad already in her pocket as she strode over to her girlfriend, ready to help her with whatever she needed, "I can't get this kickflip down...can you show me? One more time so I can see?"
"Red, I know you can do kickflips," Marley smirked, holding her hands at her hips, "You just want to see me on a board."
"Oops, you caught me," Max grinned, shrugging and throwing her arms up in the air. The look of hopefulness that lingered in Max's eye, showing it wasn't just a light-hearted joke made Marley's resolve crumble and so the girl handed her pencil and notepad to Max in exchange for her board. "Yes!"
"Watch closely," Marley chided, seamlessly riding down the road before stopping and turning back around. She could have some fun with this. "You ready!"
"Yeah!"
"Alright..." Marley pushed herself forward, gaining up enough speed before crouching down to launch herself up into the air with more force, she dragged her front foot up the board, flicking the deck into motion and crooked ground the curb, grinning triumphantly. Clapping sounded in the background and Marley looked up to find Max smiling at her. "Still got it!"
"Yeah, you do!"
"Happy now?" Marley asked, picking up the board and jogging back over to Max, the redhead met her with a discrete kiss and hummed, satisfied by the show.
"Very, you just had to go and show off, huh?"
"Well, I had to impress my lady somehow."
"You impress me daily, Harrington," Max muttered and Marley grinned down at her, sneaking her hand around to Max's back pocket to pluck her sketchbook from the girl's persons.
"Did you draw anything?"
"Didn't get the chance to," Max shrugged, rolling her board backwards and forwards. Marley held the book up to block them from view and placed a quick kiss to Max's lips, deciding that would be her reward for the show she had put on.
"Shame, I sort of liked your demented Pooka drawings."
"I hate you," Max huffed, skating down that street, Marley turned to watch her go and smiled goofily, plopping back down onto the curb so she could resume drawing.
Turned out, Marley flipped to her page, Max had drawn something in her book, a little cartoonish version of her staring up at the realistic drawing of Max skating in awe. A quiet laugh left Marley's throat as she glanced over it a fondness she really couldn't put into words rising in her gut as she stared after Max. However, just as she did, the redhead fell off of her board with a loud thud.
"Max!" Marley got up and ran over to her, helping her to her feet and checking her over worriedly, "Are you ok?"
"Yeah. Man, that was embarrassing..." Max laughed, her cheeks tinting red as she got to her legs. Marley smiled down at her warily before running off to retrieve the girl's board she stopped though when her search came up empty, the board having not been on the floor but in the grasp of one annoyed-looking Eleven.
Marley faltered a second, gulping slightly as Max came up beside her. Eleven stood just in front of the two girls, her face softening only slightly.
"Hi."
