Chapter 38: "Listen To Me"

Tris POV

After I walked Lyssa to the infirmary, I see that Tobias already dismissed the initiates. I walk to the cafeteria and order my lunch. I sit down next to Zeke with the gang.

"So how's the fights?" Zeke asked me.

"It was fine. Had to bring that initiate Lyssa to the infirmary." I say.

"Ohh that ABNEGATION girl?" Christina said emphasizing the word Abnegation.

"Yeah yeah. Whatever." I say and continue eating my food.

"Did Four already talked to you, Tris?" Zeke nudges me with his shoulder.

"Nope." I say flatly. "He told you, didn't he?"

"Yeah, he did. Maybe you should just give him a chance to talk and maybe you two could work it out." He said and I sigh heavily.

"Okay." I say.

Just then Tobias barges in the cafeteria. He get his orders and sit on the other side of Zeke. Everybody else in the gang are looking at us.

"Well, this is awkward." I hear Zeke mutter silenly. Luckily Tobias didn't hear it. After a few minutes, Zeke clears his throat and say,

"Well, time for me to go! Come on Uriah!" He said and left an empty seat between me and Tobias.

"Wait guys, I'm coming with you." Will said and gives Christina a quick peck on the cheek.

Tobias looks at me with those blue eyes and I look away. I hear him sigh heavily.

It's just 11:57. I put my head in my hands while listening to the girls' conversation.

"Well, me and Mar gotta go! 12:15 duty." I hear Christina say.

"Bye, Tris. Lynn, Shauna. Four." They said and I just wave at them.

"Well, I think I'm gonna go too." Shauna said.

"Yeah me too." Lynn said and they both walk away.

"Bye, Tris, Four." They say and I give them a 'why are you guys abandoning me' look. I see Lynn smirk and I sigh heavily again. I get up from my seat and head out the cafeteria until I feel a tug on my wrist. Tobias.

"Tris. Please. Can you just let me explain?" He said.

I let out a breath. "Okay." I say and he drags me out the cafeteria until He came to a stop.

"What is it?" I say.

"Tris, listen to me. I didn't kiss her. She's the one who kissed me first. I was walking towards my apartment to wait for you there and then she just came up to me and pushed me into a wall. I can't move be ause her grip is too tight. That's when I saw you. Tris, please take me back. I'll do anything just please take me back. I can't stand with you being angry at me and not talking to me. Please. I'm sorry." He said.

I didn't say anything. I just grab the collar of his jacket and kiss him passionately. He puts his arms around my waist and I let my hand tangled in his brown hair. We stay like that for a few minutes until we both pull away for air.

"It's okay." I say.

"Really?" He asks.

"Yeah."

"I love you." He said.

"I love you too." I reply.

"I love you three." He said smirking and I giggle.

"I love you Four."

We continued the fights and the winners are:

1. Iane
2. Robby
3. Paulyn
4. Ace

Tomorrow we will have the rankings on the first stage. And then we move on to the second stage which is simulations. I'm pretty excited about it and part of me wishes that Lyssa can pass the first stage.

We get back to Toby's apartment and slumped in the couch. He turned on the TV and we watched whatever is on Netflix. He puts an arm around me protecting me from anything and pulling me closer to him. I snuggle by his side. He smells like soap and gunpowder. He smells like safety. We watched movies until ot's 7:45. We head down the cafeteria for dinner.

He puts an arm around my waist while we are walking down the tunnels and I decided to tease him. I wriggle out from his grip and sprint towards the cafeteria with him on my heels. He's trying to catch me but he knows I'm faster than him. 😏

He finally catches up to me and lifts me up carrying me over his shoulder. We enter the cafeteria with him laughing and me giggling like crazy. The gang looks at us weirdly.He puts me down and we get our orders and sit down with them.

"Looks like someone's back together again." Uriah said.

"Technically, we didn't even break up." I say.

"If you say so." he said and continue eating.

"Hey, where's Shauna and Zeke" Tobias asks. That's when I noticed they're not here.

"Oh! I forgot to tell you. They said they have some news to tell us, Later." Chris said.

"Oh, okay." I say. I wonder what news it is.

We just talk and talk and Christina blabbering about her customer earlier at the clothes shop until Shauna and Zeke came in. They sit with us and the table became silent.

"Whaaat?? What are you all looking at?" Zeke said breaking the silence.

"Where have you two been?" Lynn said.

"Sooooo, what's the news, you guys?" Marlene said.

"Okay, okay." Shauna said. "Uriah, you have to promise that you will never spread this thing in the whole Dauntless compound."

He huffs and say, "Fine."

"Because if you do, I'll grind all of your bones to make Christina's powder." Zeke said.

"Eeewwww!!! Wouldn't dream of using it, EVER." Christina said flicking her hands.

"Just tell it already!" Uriah yelled.

"Okay." Shauna said and gives Zeke a reassuring look. He nods.

I wonder what that news is...
