Chapter 41: "Rankings"

Four POV

I wake up to see Tris wrapped around my arms. She's still peacefully sleeping. A strand of her hair falls on her face that rises and falls every time she breathes. I look at the clock and see that it's 6:46. (A/N: See what I did there?)

I don't want to wake Tris up since it's too early. Considering she's not a morning person. I stroke her hair and spend the time looking at her beautiful face.

It's already 7:13 so I decided to wake her up. I give her a peck on the lips. She stirs and opens those gorgeous blue-grey eyes and stares at me.

"Good morning, sleepyhead." I say smirking.

"Morning." She said and did some stretching.

"We're going to show the rankings today." I say.

"Yeah. Fear landscapes next." She said.

I get up and took a shower. After I cleaned myself, I put on my usual attire again. Leather jacket, tight T-shirt, Jeans, and combat boots.

After Tris got ready, we head to the cafeteria to fetch Zeke and Uriah.

We both grab a muffin from the counter and sit on our usual table.

"So, guys! Stage 1 Rankings today." Zeke says while chewing on his food.

"Yep." I say popping the 'p'.

"Come on! We better get going. It's already 7:45." Tris said. They both nod and Tris gave her goodbyes to the others.

Tris POV

We head towards the pit cause that's where the rankings will take place. I see that the initiates are already there. Transfers and Dauntless Borns. Some have this look of excitement on their faces, some are nervous. This year, Max changed the rules in initiation. We will no longer be cutting out some initiates but at the end of training, the will recieve the lowest jobs.

"Initiates! Today you will have your rankings on stage 1." God, Max is really awful at speeches.

All the Dauntless cheer and Max goes to the board where the initiates are ranked. He clicks a button from a remote and the names pop up the screen. I didn't pay attention to the lower ranks.

I see Lyssa's name on the fourth slot. She did well on first stage, huh. The last ones are:

I look around the crowd for Lyssa. Once she sees me, she gives me a smile and I smile back. I mouth a 'you made it' to her. Her smile gets even wider.

I wonder what will the gang do later...
