We begin in the Waking World, which humanity insists on calling the real world, as if your dreams have no effect upon the choices you make. You mortals go about your work, your loves, your wars, as if your waking lives are all that matter. But there is another life which awaits you when you close your eyes...and enter my realm.

For I am the King of Dreams...and Nightmares.

- My love, are you sure there is no other way to deal with this? - after centuries of being together and decades as lovers, Seraphina trusted Morpheus and knew how strong he was, yet she couldn't shake this feeling that something was wrong.

- The Corinthian must be stopped, the Waking World is no place for nightmares. It is my responsibility to bring him back here and punish him for his mistakes.

- I just...it does sound silly when saying it out loud, but I have a bad feeling about it. Why can I not go with you? Between the two of us I am the most accustomed there. Surely, I can find Corinthian and then you can come and get him. - he stepped closer to her and used his hand to caress her check.

- The Dreams and Nightmares are my responsibilities...

- Must I remind you of the countless times a certain Dream Lord said that we should share everything, even our problems? Or perhaps... - he kissed her before she could finish her sentence. It became a thing between them, one would kiss the other to shut them up, it was a very efficient way to do so and neither complained about it.

- It is dangerous for you, he knows about my affections and our relationship. It is safer if I go. - he leaned his forehead against hers and closed his eyes, she did the same. - I promise you, my heart, that I shall come back soon to you.

- My Lord. - Lucienne unknowing interrupted their moment. The couple separated from each other, and Morpheus went to get his helm. - You are coming back, aren't you?

- Why would I not return, Lucienne? - his tone now way more serious, not that it surprised the angel.

- I don't know, a presentiment. As powerful as you are here in your realm, Dreams rarely survive in the Waking World. - after putting his helm and adjusting his ruby around his neck, he took his sand and turned towards them. - Nightmares, on the other hand, seem to thrive there. - before Seraphina could protest once again, insist that it would be safer for them to be together, he used his sand to disappear. Oh, how she hated when he did that to her, but it only proved that she was right once again.

- When will we ever learn that our majesty never listens to us, my dear Lucienne? - how sad for them to be right, how they wished that for once they were wrong. Unfortunately, the Dream of the Endless didn't return that day, as a matter of fact he didn't return for a very long time.

Here in the darkness.

Here in the darkness.

Morpheus was imprisoned by a mortal, that was what Jessamy informed her. The angel spent the last 10 years thinking that Corinthian had something to do with his disappearance and trying to hunt him, but not having any luck. Now with this new information she knew that they needed to save him, but first it was necessary to make a plan. The man who held her lover was called Roderick Burgess and he was aiming for his sister, Death. Seraphina couldn't even think what in a world where he got what he wanted, because since Morpheus was taken the Waking World was horrible. People went to sleep and never woke up again, they called it the sleeping sickness. The Dreaming also wasn't the same, she tried to help as much as possible alongside Lucienne, but they weren't Morpheus.
