Clarke waited eagerly in the ship's massive map room for Luna. Lincoln had gotten the group onto the boat and arranged a private meeting with himself Clarke, and his sister. Clarke didn't exactly know what she was going to say to Luna but she knew two things were important to mention.
The first was Anya's order to Indra asking her to make sure Clarke didn't go seek Luna out in the water districts. The vital information Lincoln overheard was something Clarke didn't want to avoid talking about. If Luna knew Clarke wasn't supposed to be there then the visit would be short and she likely wouldn't get any information but if Luna didn't know then questions about her mothers true intentions could come up leading directly in discussion of the commander and her working with Pyris.
The next thing Clarke needed to discuss was the night bloods. She wasn't going to let the commander keep them. Not if she was a Sith working side by side Darth Pyris. She would rescue the children and maybe they could even help her track down the force strong younglings before the commander and Pyris could get to them. She wouldn't be able to do it alone though. She had Lincoln who seemed more than ready to help but having Luna on her side as well would also be extremely helpful.
As Clarke and Lincoln waited in the map room, they could hear the faint sounds of the rest of the group making conversation with the ship's crew-mates from the upper deck. Suddenly though, the door to the map room swung open and in walked Luna with a strange expression on her face.
"Lincoln, Clarke...what are you doing here?"
Clarke looked to Lincoln and he knew she wanted him to take over so he did.
"Luna, sister, it's good to see you. I apologize for the unexpected visit but I had to come see you. Some suspicious stuff has started to transpire back in Theed and Clarke and I have some questions for you."
"Questions? For me?"
"Yes of course Luna. Unfortunately, you're mom's favorite and she appears to have been keeping me out of the loop on some fairly important matters we really must discuss."
Luna paused for a moment, taking some time to beefing study both Lincoln and Clarke who both seemed genuine in their request. The whole situation appeared strange to Luna because although she agreed she might indeed be her mother's favorite child, she knew nothing of any important secrets that her mother wouldn't have told both siblings. The whole situation was actually extremely intriguing to the young water district leader.
"I'm afraid I don't know what you're talking about." Luna replied honestly. "I know of no such secrets that would have only been told to me and certainly of no weird things that may be transpiring back at the capital. Maybe if you have more to go off if I could be of better assistance."
Clarke could tell by the way Luna had turned her focus to her that it was Clarke who was supposed to answer Luna's last comment. She turned to Lincoln to confirm it was fine to tell his sister everything and he gave Clarke a quick nod of approval.
"Last night I left Polis after a 1 night stay in which I learned a lot about the night bloods and their commander. On my way out of Polis, I noticed a meeting happening. It was your cousin...she was talking to Pyris. They're working together and Le- the commander told him I was dead and the night bloods weren't ready. I then came back to Theed as quickly as I could only to find out that Lincoln had overheard a conversation between Indra and the Queen. Queen Anya told her not to let my friends and I come here to the water districts. I'm wondering why."
Clarke and Lincoln were both relieved to see the overwhelmingly surprised look on Luna's face after she was all caught up. She paused for several moments before finally responding.
"Wow. Roan was right."
"What do you mean?" Lincoln asked, not quite sure what his sister was talking about.
"Remember the last time The First Order came to Naboo? You were a bit younger at the time and far less interested in Theedian politics and what not. I'm sure you remember that day though. Pyris himself walked down the palace halls with Nia and Ontari. We were all terrified. We thought Theed would be wiped out and Naboo would turn into some sort of a first order training planet or something."
"But a peace deal was made."
"Exactly." Luna nodded. "A peace deal we didn't know the details of."
"Well yeah. Mom didn't want anyone knowing any details. No one knows what happened except for mom, Nia, and Ontari."
"That's what I thought too...until I talked to Roan. He said he was there at the palace that day and that someone else had been involved in the negotiations."
"Lexa." Lincoln finished, reviving a nod of approval from Luna.
"He said Lexa was the last to come out of the meeting with Pyris. He saw them shake hands and then he trailed behind Lexa and watched her talk with mom. Their talk turned into yelling but eventually things calmed down. Mom gave Lexa a hug then they pulled apart and shook hands. Ever since, Lexa became the commander, wore her dark robes, and took all of Naboo's Night Bloods to Polis."
Finally Clarke was starting to connect dots in her head. It all made sense now but it was hard to say the words out loud.
"Lexa made the peace deal." Clarke whispered. "The night bloods in exchange for Naboo's protection."
Lincoln's mouth dropped and Luna nodded her head.
Clarke's mind was racing. She couldn't believe it. Something still seemed off though.
"That deal is overly complicated though. We're missing something. The First Order wouldn't agree to such a deal unless they were guaranteed the force strong younglings. They clearly wanted to train future Sith Lords. The night bloods are only those who can search for the force strong younglings and if-"
Clarke froze.
"Holy shit."
All 3 of them; Clarke, Luna and Lincoln stopped, all having arrived at the shocking revelation Clarke had lead them to at the exact same time. Clarke had finally found the answer. It had been right in front of her the entire time.
"The night bloods...they are the force strong younglings. Lexa isn't training them to find future Jedi. She's training them to become Sith Lords."
"Woah." Lincoln gasped, not sure of anything else to say.
"I have to go." Clarke announced, quickly moving towards the door. "Those kids are in danger. Pyris said he was done waiting. He's probably taking them right now. I have to get back to Polis!"
"Wait Clarke!" Luna yelled, grabbing on to Clarke's arm and stopping her. "My mom clearly knows about this deal Lexa's made. She probably knew Lincoln was listening to her and Indra back in Theed and knew he was now loyal to you and your friends. It was probably a plan to send you here as a distraction while Pyris goes off to Polis. You can't go back to polis the way you came. The capital is probably surrounded with soldiers with orders to stop you. You'll never make it in time."
"Then what do you suggest I do?! I can't leave those children. They're not evil. They can't be siths. It's too dangerous and they deserve to live a life of goodness as Jedi knights. I can't let Pyris take them."
"I know." Luna nodded. "But we have to be smart about this. We can find another way."
"I have an idea." Lincoln announced, moving quickly to the maps on the table in the middle of the map room. "This river here that feeds into this bay we float in...we'll use it to get to the lake a few miles out of polis. From there we will travel through the hidden trails back to the kids. It will take longer but our chances of actually making it to Polis without going through Theed are a lot higher than if we do."
"He's right." Luna agreed, heading towards the door of the map room. "It's a good plan, I'll let the crew know we have to go."
With that, the three young leaders exited the map room and made their way to the upper deck quickly to prepare the crew for travels and inform Clarke's friends of everything they had found out as well as their new rescue mission.
I'm no time, the ship's super propellers were turned on and they were off racing to Polis as fast as they possibly could.
The only thing Clarke could do now was hope she wasn't too late.
