Ten Years Later
***
I sit nuzzled up beside Severus, in the Malfoy's back garden. I watch as my friends run around, playing, chasing after their young children.
Astoria and Luna are chatting at the table near us. Both listening to the cheers and laughter of their first borns being chased by their fathers. Playing a vigorous round of tag.
"Mummy?"
Our daughter asks.
"Yes dear?"
I say in reply.
"When can brother join us? I want to play tag with him."
My daughter asks, nearly pouting.
"When he is older. He's only a baby."
Answers Severus.
I gave birth to our second child a mere three months ago, his older sister hasn't quite grasped that he's too small to join in on bigger kid activities. Despite her eagerness in wanting to play rougher with her new sibling, she's so gentle.
Narcissa comes out with a drink tray, followed behind her is Lucius, Bellatrix, Tom, and Barty, who has taken being an uncle very seriously. As our parents set the food and drinks on the nearby table, Barty takes the kids and gets them set up at the kiddie table.
"I'll do his feeding dear. You and Severus go and enjoy the food."
Says my father as he approaches the two of us, arms outstretched.
"Thanks dad."
I reply, looking up at him, smiling.
Severus and I sit side by side at the table, now being joined by Draco, Blaise, Luna, Astoria and our parents.
I watch as all my closest friends, and most dearest family enjoy the cool fall afternoon, chatting and laughing away.
"Picture time!"
Shouts Lucius.
He was gifted a camera at Christmas two years ago, and has been documenting everything. Our kids run up and stand next to their parents, or wanting to climb up on grandma or grandpa to do a silly pose. Lucius runs to stand beside his wife and adult son, the timer clicks three times as it counts down. A bright flash emits from the lens, capturing this happy, perfect moment and holding it in place for the rest of time...
