School again today but I just wasn't feeling it today, so I kept my distance from everyone. The day went slowly as usual and I went home as normal for once in 2-3 days. My parents were happy to see me but they knew I was helping find my cousin and keeping an eye on Joyce, I went up to my room and pulled out my journal just to write out how I feel. I then decided to go for a walk. Maybe I might feel better, the sun started setting in the horizon, I was far from home now, better start making my way back. I see a car pull up next to me.
"Need a ride Byers?"Steve asks me as he pulled up, I look up at the sky and start walking
"Come on Byers, you get a free ride from the king"Steve says boastfully.
"Oh how honoured am I, getting a ride from Steve 'the hair Harrington"I say sarcastically
"Just get in the damn car, you're gonna get cold."Steve tells me
"Wow Harrington cares about me"I continued my sarcasm. I get into the car as music blasted loudly
"Harrington you need to get a music taste check"I tell him, I pull out the mixtape and put my one in
"See this is music"I tell him. We start bopping to it until we start singing it loudly with each other and smiling. We reach my house and I grab my mixtape.
"Thanks for the ride Harrington"I thank
"Wow Danielle 'The fierce' Byers thanked me"Steve says, sarcasm dripping in his voice. We part ways as I went insideI sat down for dinner that night but just pushed the food around my plate
"Danielle darling are you alright" My dad asks me
"Yeah dad just worried about Will and miss him"I admit
"I know honey, I hope they find him soon"Mom tells me, I nod at her and I collect the dishes and head back upstairs where I end up on the phone to Nancy and her ranting to me about thing and me ranting to her about things, I'm glad Nancy and I have a great bond where we can tell each other anything.
That morning I woke up and went downstairs to see my parents with a big frown on their face
"I'm sorry honey"Is all mom says
"Mom what happened?"I ask, immediately thinking the worst.
"They found Will in the lake last night"Dad tells me, my heart drops into my stomach as tears welled up in my eyes. I ran out the door hearing the calls of my parents to Joyce's house, I knocked on the door. No answer so I run down to the police station, see if anyone knew
"Hey, I'm Danielle Byers, do you know where Hopper may be?"I ask the lady
"Oh honey, I'm sorry for your loss there at the county coroner"She tells me, I thank her and start my walk over there. I walk in to see the receptionist.
"Please let me see him, Will Byers, that's my cousin let me through"I say
"Sorry, Immediate family only"She tells me
"I am immediate family"I exclaim, I see Hopper walk up to me and hold me back from lunging at the receptionist. I start to cry more and Hopper hugs me close to him to try his best to comfort me. I then afterwards walked back outside to cool off, I can't imagine what Jonathan and Joyce are feeling.
That weekend was Will's funeral, I got ready with my parents. Into something nice and put on the necklace he made for me for my birthday and start to head for where the funeral was being held. Before that I went to Castle Byers because I missed him so much. I went in with Joyce and hugged them tightly. We went to the Cemetery for his funeral. Tears rolled down my face slowly at the loss of my cousin and best friend.
Jonathan and Nancy pull me to the side after the funeral finished
"Okay so there's this thing that we think took Will"Jonathan started
"And Barb"Nancy added
"We got a picture of it and Mom saw it coming out of the wall"Jonathan continued
"So, what does this thing look like"I inquire, he pulled out a picture it kinda reminded me of the Demogorgan from dungeons and dragons that the boys play.
"I think that's what I saw come through the wall one night"I tell them, they look in relief
"We're gonna a kill it"Nancy told me
"I'm so in"I say, they.
We sat behind a fence "This is where we know for sure it's been. right"Jonathan asks
"So that's..."I ask
"Steve's house and that's the woods where they found Will's bike and that's my house"Jonathan points
"It's all so close"Nancy comments
"Yeah exactly, I mean it's all within a mile or something."Jonathan says
"Whatever this thing is, it's not travelling far"I say
"You want to go out there"
"We might not find anything"Jonathan says
"I found something"Nancy tells us
"And if we do see it, then what"I ask the both of them
"We kill it"Jonathan tells me
