𝘊𝘩𝘢𝘱𝘵𝘦𝘳 𝘛𝘦𝘯: 𝘏𝘢𝘳𝘨𝘳𝘰𝘷𝘦
Following the Eddie teddy-bear rejection, Valerie did not allow another word to fall past either of their lips as she twisted on her heels and stomped away. Her sneakers pressed against the yellow and green grass beneath them when the sound of obnoxious laughter filled her in ears. She turned her head as she walked, her hair flipping over her shoulders as she turned to see who the laughter belonged to, and what they seemed to find so amusing, only to find that it had been Eddie's group friends from his club.
All of the boys had been dressed in the hellfire club shirts and a pair of black jeans, which only made matters worse, because nothing more infuriated her than people wearing matching clothes and school-club shirts outside of school. It was tacky, not at all cool, and just lame in general. It was not a good look, and she hated that it was all Eddie wore now. A hellfire club shirt, black jeans, and the same pair of shoes every day. Those people knew nothing about fashion. But disregarding Valerie's distaste for the choice in clothing in which they all wore, she refocused her mind on what had initially caught her attention.
Eddie's friends, in which Valerie did not know any of their names, pushed and nudged him jokingly as laughs erupted from the back of their throats. She could not hear the teasing that fell past their lips, or what was said to make Eddie's face contort into annoyance, but she was intrigued. Not intrigued enough to go back and demand what they were laughing about; because she assumed they had witnessed their interaction, judging by the way they continued to push the teddy against Eddie's chest. She let out a scoff as she turned her head back to watch where she was going, and partially dreading what her friends had to say about the whole situation – if they saw, because she was still hoping they saw nothing.
Only, this interaction with her friends would be postponed, because as she turned her head, her body instantly collided with another sweaty and muscular body that her brain immediately hoped would be Steve Harrington. Of course, because of her lack of luck in life, she did not find Steve staring down at her with those gorgeous brown eyes that reminded her of her favourite hazelnut chocolate, however, she did find a rather good-looking and curly-headed Billy Hargrove staring back at her.
There was no doubt that Billy was one, if not the, prettiest guys in the school. He was still sort of new to town, very mysterious, and he resembled quite the bad boy. She usually found him in the carpark leaning against his car with a cigarette hanging loosely from his lips, his bright eyes scanning the carpark for the next girl he would ask out, only to break her heart a week later. He would outdrink everyone at parties, just like he had done at the most recent Halloween party, and everybody loved him, to put it simply. Not because he was kind, or caring, but because he was not afraid to push the limits and have fun. In saying all of this, Valerie had never actually spoken to him except for the one week that Connie had a fling with him during the first of many break-ups between Connie and Danny.
