The following day, I took on Brain's suggestion, but under protest. I hate to leave in the middle of a case, yet, I was only going to be away from the city for about 7 days or so. Though, Brain assured me that he had everything down while I'm away. Hey, who am I to argue with a werewolf, right? It's something I learned a long time ago and the hard way.
...
While riding along the highway in my yellow Camaro. I noticed something ahead in the rear view mirror. Someone was riding in the car behind me. I wasn't scared, considering I wasn't sure who it was or why he was behind me. For all I know, he was just tailgating me, the jerk. I drove for another mile or two, considering I needed to be sure, so I deliberately missed my exit to the Safehouse.
Once he'd drove past me, letting out a huge sigh of relief. I guess Seth had me more rattled than I thought, considering it turned out to be nothing, but I couldn't risk the safety of both Sara and Ariana. I mean they mean everything to me and I wasn't going to risk their safety. Not after everything we've been through and the time we've spent together. I rerouted to take the exit to the Safehouse.
I drove for another hour before reaching the gates to the Silverbacks Safehouse. When I did, I pressed the red button, so they could let me in. One of them actually answered and spoke. "Yes?"
I was lucky enough to hear none other than Bill Mcgrown's voice. He's the alpha male of Athena's clan, The Silverbacks. But it didn't start out that way for him. Over a couple months back, he came with a purpose to take Ariana back as his wife but ended up with Athena instead. It was just as well, considering they weren't the perfect fit. They had an arranged marriage and it never worked out the first time around.
"Bill, it's me," I said, over the speaker.
"Damion, oh, what thou, I owe the pleasure of you granting us with your presences?" he asked, as I rolled my eyes and chuckled, considering I was impressed by his impression of William Shakesphere.
"I'm here to see my daughter and my wife," I said.
"About time," he says, buzzing me in and letting the gates open on their own. "Come on in."
...
I drove slowly into his pack's territory, because even though I was welcome here. There's still a possibility of getting attacked by other supernaturals. And because of the laws set by the founders, all territories are up for grabs and The Silverbacks aren't about to lose any of their new profound territory. So, yes, I had to be aware at all times because that's one battle I don't want to be in.
I don't blame other supernaturals for wanting this territory, I mean it's the best part of the city. The view of the lake there is incredible and the soil is the best for farming, so the pack were able to grow their own food. Not to mention it had the best tree coverages in cast you need to get away from extreme heat weather. Anyway, I kept an eye out until I spotted one of the soldiers. He was standing in the corner as if he was waiting for me and nodded.
Apparently, Bill had already talked to him, otherwise he wouldn't let me pass at all. Still, I went slowly, watching the soldier from the rearview mirror, taking position with his standing tall stance and his back facing me. Once I made it to the Safehouse, I was relieved and let out a lump of breath to relax. I wasn't aware that my daughter was right outside.

I have been sitting on these steps, ever since dad sent us here when I was 8 years old. It was after that great battle with uncle Seth, and he'd promised me that he would come for us one day. That we would be a family again. I sighed from boredom when I suddenly heard the familiar car sound. I looked up to see a Yellow Camero. My eyes widened and my sad face turned into a smile.
It means only one thing.
"Daddy!" I yelled, as I ran up to his car and watched him get out of the damn thing, we hugged each other and laughed. "Daddy! You're here! You're actually here!"
"I missed you sweetheart," he says, snuggling his nose against my own.
"I missed you too, daddy," I said, happily, feeling a tear rolling down my left cheek.
"Daddy, does this mean that we can go home?" I asked.
"Not yet, babe," he said, as I sighed and looked sadly on the ground. "But I am here to stay for about 7 days." I then looked at him with a surprised stare on my face.
"So, you'll be here for my birthday?" I asked.
"That's what I'm hoping for, baby, girl," he said, giving me a smile.
I hugged him tight as he hugged me and tightened his grip.
...
Even though I was kind of bummed about not being able to go back home. I was so happy that daddy came to spend some time with us. I know mom was just as happy to see him, considering it has been such a hard 9 years without him.
After the battle with Uncle Seth, 9 years ago, dad sent us almost right away with the fear that he might return, the disappearances just made his paranoia worse. Still, with dad being here just to spend time with us could mean that something is coming and coming on strong. Just like daddy can see the future, I can sense it and feel it at the same time.
I shivered at one point as if a cold chill entered the atmosphere and blew over us. I crossed my arms together and pressed my chest tightly.
"Sara, is everything alright?" Daddy asked, looking at me as if he knew what I was sensing and feeling.
"Yeah, it's just chilly out here."
"Right, let's go on inside, before you catch a cold," mom stated.
...
Once we were inside, daddy was amazed at how we decorated the Safehouse to make it feel like home. We showed him every room including the one where he would be sleeping with mom.
"Wow, you guys," he entered each room and noticed every detail. "You went all out."
"Yeah, we wanted to make you feel special," mom stated, as I giggled.
...
We eat as a family in what felt like forever. I mean, it was nice and all, but at the same time; it was awkward. I guess it was one of the disadvantages that being separated has on us. Mostly, it was quiet. So, I broke the silence with a question.
"So, daddy, how was work?"
"Still going kiddo," as he looked down at his meal and sighed. "We even have a new victim added to the case."
"Any leads?" I asked.
"One, the killer was using the AM chemical to separate the human form from their supernatural form, and the interesting part is that our victims are having a cut wounds right on the neck, a break in a case, but it's not making things any faster."
"Do you think....,is... him?" I asked, but he only smiled and shook his head.
"No, kiddo, it's not your uncle, he's still in jail, serving time for what he did in the past."
