The next day, I sadly quickly put my bags in my car. I sighed, questioning my decision to leave. I looked around to see if there wasn't the person that I sensed last night, but I didn't feel anything. Instead, I saw everyone whom I loved so much waiting to say their goodbyes. Sara, Ariana, even Bill and Athena. And of course, Erick, who's officially a member of the family. I hugged Sara and Ariana, kissed each on the cheek and on the forehead.
"I promise kiddo, I'll be back," I said, giving her one final hug. Then walked towards Bill and Athena, shaked their hands.
"Protect my daughter, please?" I asked Bill, shaking his hand and watching him nod his head.
...
Afterwards, I headed back to the city with a worried look on my face. I mean I know Bill and Athena, and the rest of the pack will do everything to protect the girls, is the idea of David roaming around here that worries me the most. But I do more back in the city. The sooner we solve this the quicker we can stop Seth and David from driving Phantom Moon back to a brick of war again.
...
I sighed as I walked back in the office and saw Brian at the computer. I'm guessing that he was checking the video he'd send me. I could tell that he was grumbling about something. I scratched my head, considering I wasn't sure if he was talking to himself or to his wolf. I tried my best to walk slowly over to him, but of course, my vampire side is more powerful than the other side, so I was right by his side in less than a minute.
"Hey, Brain," I said, tapping his shoulder. "How's it going, partner?"
"Good Goddess, Damion! You know not to scare a werewolf," he angrily said. Obviously he was annoyed by it, but I couldn't help it. I missed him while I was away. "You always do that."
"Sorry, I couldn't help myself," I said, trying to keep myself from smiling and laughing.
He rolled his eyes, and said, "Apart from all that, crap, I'm glad to see you, bud."
"Miss you too, partner," I said, getting a chair to sit next to him. "So, tell me, what are you looking at?"
"I'm reviewing the video that I sent you a few days ago," he answered, tapping the spacebar and a few other characters as well. "Because I wanted to see what they were saying, but somehow I couldn't zoom in."
"May I?" I asked, watching him make room for me to sit in the chair, so I can quickly move and manage to zoom in large enough to see both Seth's and David's lips. "Okay, got it."
"Can you make out what they are saying?" Brain asked, zooming in a little bit more to get a better look.
"Umm, from what I can tell they are talking about something, but it doesn't look like a spell," I answered, squashing my eyes to get closer to the lips since I already reached the limit on zooming in. "Oh my Goddess!"
"What?" Brain asked, becoming concerned when my eyes widened. I know what they were talking about, but it wasn't a spell. It was a plan to get my daughter.
"I know what they were talking about," I said, getting my phone from my pocket. "And it's not a spell. It's a way to get to my daughter!"
I quickly got from the computer without having time for Brain to say anything. I was panicking on the inside, while trying to remain calm on the outside. I didn't want anyone to see me in my moment of weakness as I called Bill to let him know what I saw on the video and got only 2 minutes of ringing before I got his voicemail:
"Hello, this is Bill McGrown and I can't come to the phone right, considering I'm doing my new Alpha duties. Please leave a message after the beep, and I'll return to you shortly."
"Oh, come on!" I yelled, trying to hold my growl as I heard the beep. " Bill, listen, I know what Seth's conversation with David is. Please, Bill, whatever you do, don't take your eyes off of my daughter and keep her safe. Seth was trying to give David a way to get to her."
Meanwhile...,
Bill McGrown
I heard my phone chime and the message from Damion. At first I rolled my eyes, considering I find Damion alarmist behavior very annoying and send a text back:
Damion, as I told you before, both Ariana and Sara are safe here with every pack member keeping an eye on them. However, if you want I can always check on them just to be on the safe side?
And not far away I get a quick text back: Would you please.
Of course, I had to text back quickly: Yes.
...
I sighed in frustration, but went to the girls' safehouse. As I did, I felt something in the air. A quick whoosh in the wind. As I got closer I noticed the door to their Safehouse was wide open. How odd? I never see this open unless Ariana is out here planting flowers. I looked around and didn't see her. In fact, I didn't see anyone, not even the guards that were supposed to do their rounds. I could see why Damion is always an alarmist.
I slowly walked in the Safehouse and noticed a mess which was so unlike the girls. They are always so neat and tidy. I looked around and walked over the items as I tried not to step on anything that would make a noise. I walked when I noticed that Ariana was lying on the ground and quickly went to her to check her pulse. I breathed easy to feel one and saw her breathing.
I continue scanning the area of the Safehouse, but I use my powers and my wolf, Marcus, helps by sniffing the air.
"You got something, Marcus?" I asked, looking at him in the window.
Not something, someone. An evil someone.
My eyes glowed as soon as I heard that and ran into Sara's room. I looked around and there was no Sara, and Erick was knocked out cold. I checked his pulse and was happy to hear him breathing.
"Crap!" I yelled and texted Damion everything I saw and that Sara was gone. Even punched the door hard.
