Aurora was the first one to speak, gulping the lump forming in her throat. She cleared it before speaking, wishing that he hadn’t heard anything so that her lie could get them out clean.
“Odette’s favorite blanket was missing when we were packing her things, but today I found it in our dad's office. She tells me she didn’t take it there, so we don’t understand how it ended up there,” she lied smoothly.
Staying with Dimitri and men in her mafia family, she feels less intimidated by men like them, whereas Odette is always a trouble and rebels against them by lying and going against their rules, so honestly, Aurora was surprised her sister didn’t come up faster with a lie.
Mario diverted his gaze from Aurora to Odette and asked, “So, have you packed everything right? We should keep moving; Marco is waiting for you,” Mario said coldly.
Nodding her head to him, Odette hugged her sister one last time. Of course, saying goodbye to her family was difficult, and she ended up crying a lot. Mario rolled his eyes, thinking she was being dramatic and waited for her to finish so that they could leave as soon as possible.
“Please take care of yourself, I love you,” Aurora whispered in her little sister’s ear, making her choke on her own sob.
“Shhh, it’s okay, you can do this,” she murmured again lovingly.
Odette nodded her head while breaking the hug and wiped her tears, not wanting to show any weakness in front of Mario more than she already did.
“Love you,” Odette said before leaving.
The helicopter was waiting on the terrace, already started. Marco, who was waiting for Odette, smiled at her as soon as he saw her coming along with Mario.
He didn’t miss the glares they were giving each other, but as soon as her eyes fell on her husband, she smiled widely, running towards him like a little girl.
“Come on, let’s go,” Marco said as he snaked his arm around her waist and another tucked in the trouser pocket gracefully. The man was ethereal. His blue eyes were shimmering in sunlight as if they were crystals, his dark brown hair messed yet perfect in its own twisted way, making him look breathtaking.
Odette bit her lip before glancing around the city. This was the place she was born; she was leaving it behind but with a promise that she would come back one day. She smiled at Marco before nodding her head, indicating that she was ready.
As Marco settled her and secured the seatbelt, he did his own.
“Mario isn’t coming with us?” Odette asked in a loud voice so that Marco could hear her.
He put headsets on her after putting on his and gestured her to the mic through which they could talk properly without any problem.
Odette smiled and asked, “Isn’t Mario coming with us?” again, and this time Marco half-smiled before answering.
“No, baby, he is coming by road with Ma and Draco. We are going by helicopter because I wanted to show you our properties all over Italy,” Marco said, making Odette smile widely in excitement.
“Oh my god! Really!!!” Odette gasped while Marco chuckled at her, poking her nose and nodding his head towards the view they were flying on.
Odette was seeing Paris in awe with her twinkling eyes; every building and every landscape made her coo and appreciate how beautiful and pretty the city is.
“Is this Rome?” Odette asked with wide eyes.
“Yes, we live in Rome, baby,” Marco said, giving a faint smile.
