The hall of Odette's mansion was adorned with white lilies, cream-colored curtains, and a dance floor that gleamed like new marble, reflecting one's image. Waiters darted around with trays holding champagne glasses and various cocktails.
The guests had already arrived and were eagerly anticipating Odette's appearance, who had been kept hidden throughout her entire life. It would be untrue to say they weren't excited to see her and her future husband, none other than the most dangerous Italian mafia boss, who had formed an alliance with the French mafia for an upper hand in the country.
Meanwhile, Marco sat in his limo, calling his brother, with his right-hand man and his mother by his side. Despite repeatedly calling his elder twin, there was no response.
"Should we track his number?" asked Bianca Ferrari.
"I don't think it's necessary, Ma. He said he would handle the trouble, but I'm just worried he hasn't updated me," Marco replied, frowning.
Regardless of how cruel and ruthless both brothers were, they cared immensely for each other and their loved ones, with Bianca being the sole recipient of their affection. They wouldn't hesitate to eliminate any threats to their right-hand man, Draco Lombardi.
As soon as Marco expressed his concern, his phone rang immediately. He answered without delay.
"Where the hell are you, bro? You're supposed to be with me now," Marco exclaimed.
"I'm caught up with these folks. It might take more time. I guess I'll be late for your engagement," Mario replied wearily.
Marco sighed heavily, understanding the importance of the meeting he had sent his brother to. Although Mario assured him he would handle the situation, Marco knew it might take time.
"Okay, take care," Marco said, and Mario replied with a tired "okay" before hanging up.

"Princess, put this on," said an older maid to Odette, who simply rolled her eyes."I don't want that thing on my thigh. Get lost from here before I decide to kill you," Odette growled in anger, causing the old lady to flinch.
"Odette!" a manly, angry voice echoed from behind her, making her flinch.
Her father never shouted at her, but this was one of those times he couldn't tolerate her tantrums. There were guests in their mansion waiting to see the youngest French mafia princess and witness her engagement, yet here she was behaving like a child.
"Is this a way to talk to the elders who are helping you?" Odette's father scolded her angrily.
She glared back at him and rolled her eyes. "Isn't it amusing coming from you, who kills people?" she scoffed, making Andre clench his jaw in anger.
"Dad... I will take care of this. You go and watch the guests; Italians might be on their way," Aurora said, sighing as she faced Odette's cold glare and her father's angry expression, on the verge of eruption.
"Fill this brat's head with some sense, Aurora. Tell her to behave well and keep her mouth shut," Andre ordered angrily as he turned and left the room, slamming the door loudly.
Aurora sighed heavily, looking at her sister. "Oddy, please don't create any scene. Your engagement with him will bind two countries. It's good for everyone," Aurora explained to her sister, who kept her eyes on the mirror, examining herself.
"Why?" was the only word that escaped from Odette's mouth in a broken voice.
"We are born into a mafia family, Oddy. It wasn't our choice-neither yours nor mine," Aurora said in her softest voice, kneeling in front of her sister.
"But we are destined. The power our men hold is dangerous. We need to keep them sane, on the right path, take care of the women of the people who work under them," she continued, tying the thigh piece on her sister securely.
"We are not weak, Oddy. We are powerful. We watch our men get injured and fight death every day. Sometimes we might think this work they are doing is not fair, but do you think if there isn't a lion in a forest, who would save animals from hyenas?" Aurora asked, standing up and cupping her sister's cheek.
"Marrying will not stop your freedom, Oddy. I hope he will be the man who respects your wishes and choices. I do believe he will be a better man, at least for you. You just have to stay strong and give fate a chance," she said, pressing a kiss on Odette's forehead, causing a lone tear to escape from her eyes.
Aurora gently wiped the tears and smiled at her motherly. "Mom would have been proud looking at how strong you are," she said, smiling sadly.
"I'm afraid," Odette sobbed in her sister's arms, making her cry too.
"I was too," Aurora admitted, sighing as she bit her cheek to control her cries.
"You are just nineteen. I know Dad will give you time until you turn twenty. I hope you get time to meet him and understand each other before marriage," Aurora said in her broken voice.
"What if he doesn't agree?" Odette asked, biting her lip, referring to her future husband, as she wiped her own tears, sniffing.
"I will ask Dimitri to blast his ass with a bomb," Aurora declared determinedly, making her little sister chuckle.
"Come on, let's get you ready. Everyone is waiting to see this little princess," Aurora said, fixing Odette's makeup and hair one last time.
As she was about to leave the room along with Odette, a maid knocked on the door, making the sisters frown.
"What?" Aurora asked the worried and afraid maid.
"Princess Aurora, Master asked for Princess Odette's presence in his office. The Italian mafia boss is here," she said, making Odette hold her sister's hand tightly.
"Everything will be fine, Oddy," Aurora assured her sister.
"I will be outside if you need me. Just call," she added, pressing a kiss on Odette's forehead. Odette nodded weakly as she dragged her feet along with her sister towards her destiny, which would ruin her in ways she never imagined in her darkest nightmares.
