Chapter 8: Her diary

I and Haruki ask her to sit near the tree and tell her that we will be back with icecreams. Haruki and I walk at some distance when I observe that my locket which had my grandma's pics in it has been lost. It was the most valuable thing because it was given by my grandma when I was a 5 year old kid and the next year she passed away due to brain stroke. She was my best friend when she was alive. I ask Haruki if he can bring us the icecream. "OK" he says. And then I go back in search of my lost pendant necklace. By searching and searching I reach the same spot where we had left before but I didn't get my locket. I was really upset and at the same time I was really surprised about how can it get vanish all of a sudden.I see Sakura sitting under the shades of the trees.

But she was writing something in a book and seemed very happy. It seemed as if it is a diary of hers. She looked here and there and then kept her diary in the bag and went to a nearby shop. She had forgotten to zip her bag and due to a strong gust of wind her bag falls. As soon as the bag falls down, I can see her diary peeping out of the bag.

I go near the bag with confusions as if to pick the diary and keep it in her bag or to read it. My intention was to read it.. I know not a good idea but I think its not a bad idea either. So I pick the diary and read it. I was shocked after reading it. From her sacrificing of dreams to her everyday sufferings being a delivery girl and from the tortures she used to get from her step father to her step father's intention of marrying her.. everything was written in the diary and many more.
I feel really pity by reading about her condition. But I really want her to be a scientist and its not too late if she starts working with me though I'm not a scientist and just a college student but even I have the same dreams and if we three succeed then nothing could be as good as this. I keep the diary inside her bag as quickly as I can then I keep her bag upright as before and walked a few meters away from there. Then I come walking towards the tree as if nothing has happened. She was coming from the shop. We meet. I start sweating profusely as soon as I approach her. "What happened? Huh? I hope you don't get a heat burn" She laughs. "Um.. well its really hot today.." I reply. "Well yeah thats right.. its really hot today. Where is Haruki I hope our icecreams are all good. If icecreams sweat then we will be left with the cones" she says with a chuckle. "Yeah...". "Hey guys!! Here's the icecream!" Haruki shouts. "Thank God that it is all good" I say. And we all enjoy our icecreams. Then Haruki leaves. I drop Sakura a bit far from her home and also remind her about the evening and go from there. I reach my home with an exhausted face. But all I could think about was her diary and her sufferings.
