A/N: I don't know about you guys, but Fiona from Shrek was probably one of my earliest animated crushes. For an animated character, she's FINE. Haha, anyway, yes, Fiona is gonna be Hiccup's next woman and one you'll see a lot of, so just a heads up. So, the Vikings stumble upon Dragon's Keep when Hiccup and those who decide to join him go out on a little exploration, once reaching Dragon's Keep, Hiccup not only takes Fiona as one of his Fair Queens, but he'll take the wealth within that tower and split it amongst his followers, and then he'll train the dragon there too, who will become Fiona's bonded dragon. And honestly, pretend that the dragon in Fiona's tower is the same one that Rhaenys Targaryen stormed Aegon's ceremony in the ninth episode of House of the Dragon, which I haven't watched due to being busy with work, personal responsibilities, and writing. But anyway, enough talk, onward to the next chapter!
(Normal pov— York)
"So, what do you plan to do today, King Hiccup?"
Looking up at Thormod, the young king was eating his morning meal, along with those closest to him. After swallowing a mouthful of food, Hiccup smirked. "Well, before we can bring all the Viking people in England here and move on from these lands, I'd like to explore and see what England has to offer," he then gave his host a curious look. "Have you and your warriors ventured beyond York?"
"We have. Though I haven't gone beyond these walls in quite some time, mainly because the Saxons have secured the roads leading to Wessex, Mercia, Cornwall, Wales, and Northumbria. In truth, the Vikings of England are cut off from each other, we're lucky if we can manage to slip past the defenses the Saxons had established, but we're all separate tribes for the most part," grinning, York's warlord and ruler pounded a fist against the table. "But now that you and your people are here, we can go wherever we please, especially with the numbers of men and dragons you have at your disposal."
Humming in agreement, Hiccup ate the last of his morning meal and drank the last gulp of water in his drinking horn before nodding. "All in good time, Thormod," pulling out his personal map, Hiccup unfolded it on the table before looking up at his host. "Do you have maps of England, I'll need to add to my own."
"We do not, but, there is one I've heard of who favors getting the lay of the land and has helped a small, yet capable Viking clan gain a strong foothold in England. Her name is Randvi, Chieftess of Ravensthorpe," Thormod crossed his arms across his chest and shrugged. "Her husband Sigurd Styrbjornsson fell in battle against King Nobert's men, they had advanced on Ravensthorpe, though the former leader of the Raven Clan and his step-sister, Eivor Varinsdottir managed to defeat the Saxons from destroying Ravensthorpe, Sigurd had received a fatal wound and died a warrior's death."
"Glory or Valhalla," Snotlout snorted while downing the rest of the ale in his drinking horn. "There's no better way to die than to fall in battle."
"Aye," Thormod grunted in agreement. While stroking his beard, York's warlord shrugged. "If you wish to explore, King Hiccup, there is one place of great interest, a place that may find... worthy of exploration." Narrowing his eyes at his host, the king gave him a nod to continue. "There is a dilapidated castle that has been long abandoned, that is surrounded by a lake of boiling hot lava in a volcano. The castle itself is surrounded by a mountain of volcanic rock and is built on a crumbling pinnacle of rock. The stone that makes up its structures are crumbling, and cracks in the floor give way to the molten rock below. Because a lake of lava surrounds this place. The strong odor of brimstone can be smelled even from afar. The few men who have lived to tell the tale of this place say that the only way to cross the lake of lava is a rickety suspension rope bridge that provides access to the castle."
Barking out a laugh, Tuffnut turned to his sister. "That won't be a problem for us, we have dragons!"
Grinning at her brother, Ruffnut laughed back. "Yeah! We won't have to worry about crossing a rickety bridge and falling into lava," she then shrugged. "Although, death by sinking into lava does sound cool."
