Chapter 7: Ruffnut & Atali

A/N: Hope you guys had a great Thanksgiving, mine was very chill, but good, nonetheless. Storywise, this is a three-month time jump, I'll explain what changes have occurred. As for who Hiccup will pair next, he's hooking up with both Ruffnut and Atali, however, Ruffnut is going to be married to Fishlegs in the story, and she just wants to have some fun before committing herself entirely to Fishlegs. Atali, however, will be one of Hiccup's women, since she's the leader of the Wingmaidens, as for children, she prefers having a daughter rather than a son so that she could raise a strong, capable woman who would one day succeed her as leader of the Wingmaidens. Anyway, let's get into it!

(Normal pov— York)

Patience is a virtue.

Unfortunately, patience was not a popular trait when it comes to Vikings, as for Hiccup Haddock, he knows when to be patient and to bide his time. Especially when trying to sway the Vikings that had settled in England to join his Scandinavian Empire.

It had been three months since arriving in England and during those months, Hiccup had reached out to the various Viking tribes and settlements established throughout the Saxon kingdoms, many of them were impressed that such a young ruler was in command of such a vast force of Scandinavian people and dragons, while some pledged fealty to Hiccup, many more refused to bend the knee to a "child," however, those that refused to swear loyalty to Hiccup were persuaded by the young king to reconsider their choice, this was a time where all Scandinavian people needed to rally together and work together to provide the future of their people a better life by ensuring they inherit good, rich lands to settle and call their own. While some of these Viking leaders were persuaded and changed their minds, some refused the young king a second time, and because of this, Hiccup challenged these stubborn leaders to holmgångs to assume command over their people and take possession of their wealth and resources. Each Viking leader that refused Hiccup accepted, and each time, the King of Vikings won and took what once belonged to these stubborn leaders, the people had no quarrel with Hiccup and pledged fealty to their new leader. Not only was Hiccup responsible for the lives of more Viking people, but Astrid, Elsa, and Fiona were three months pregnant. The news excited Hiccup greatly, none more so than his wife and two Fair Queens, and while Heather and Anna were happy for the three pregnant women, they too desired to have children of their own and provide their king and lover with more heirs. Obliging their desires, Hiccup would visit both Anna and Heather separately or even together, and though they had yet to be with child, the King of Vikings had an inkling that would change soon.

On top of taking command of the English Viking settlers, some of the leaders who pledged fealty to Hiccup's rule were now clans that had reformed to Christianity. Many were disgusted that these Vikings had forsaken the old ways of their fathers and embraced Christianity, none more so than Harald Haraldson and many others, however, Hiccup was committed to making sure all Scandinavian people were united, whether the god his people worshipped was Odin or Christ, the only thing that mattered to Hiccup was that he led the Scandinavian people to a new home where they can flourish and rebuild what they lost in the lands from which they hailed.

The burden of kingship had never felt heavier to Hiccup, not only in dealing with making sure the various factions of Christian and ordinary Vikings didn't tear each to pieces because they worshiped different gods, keeping an eye on his wife and Fair Queens as well as tending to their needs, and keeping a watchful eye on the Saxon kingdoms that were in the process of bringing together their armies and joining Heahmund of the Zealot Order in an effort to drive the Vikings into extinction. Minor skirmishes between the Saxons did occur, but no battles, not until the Saxon kingdoms came together and assembled the men they needed to defeat the Vikings.

With so much going on, Hiccup needed to take a break from his duties as king, so he decided to go out hunting with men of his choosing a group of people and dragons under his command.
