(Germany— Viking settlement)
Jasmine emerged out of her carriage, draped in her cloak as she and the women from her harem emerged and were by her side. Two guards accompanied them as they entered the crowds of foreigners seeking to conduct business with the Vikings here.
"Sultana, I understand your eagerness to explore after months of evading that snake, Johann, and his forces, but I urge you to show caution. We know nothing about this place or these people."
"Yes, of course, Tareef."
Rolling her eyes at her guard, Jasmine returned her attention to her surroundings to see so many people and dragons all around. She had only seen a few dragons, men under Johann's command used them to destroy her kingdom and home, but she had never seen the firebreathing beasts so... docile. Of course, while traveling here, she had heard many tales of King Hiccup Horrendous Haddock III and his Night Fury leading armies of Vikings and dragons into battle, and to see these notorious warriors and raiders in the flesh was both worrying as it was exciting.
The merchants gathered were presenting their wares to the Scandinavians, from weapons, silks, exotic animals, jewelry, and many other rare items of value. Jasmine reached for the pouch around her cloaked torso and took a peek at the magic lamp that still resided there. Of all the items here, what she possessed was enough to start wars. This lamp was the only reason Johann sacked her home and destroyed her palace, all to acquire the magic lamp and become powerful beyond measure.
"Sigfus, will you slow down?"
"Come, Gobber! I could see these traders are selling iron ore!"
Two large, stout men were inspecting a block of iron ore, and if Jasmine had to take a guess, she suspected that these men were blacksmiths. Despite her guards' warnings, the young sultana approached the two men. "Apologies. But, do either of you men know where I can find King Hiccup Haddock III?"
"And who might you be, lass?"
"Jasmine."
"Just Jasmine, eh?"
"That's right."
Sharing a look, Gobber turned back to the young sultana. "Wait here," beckoning his lover to follow, Gobber and Sigfus disappeared into the sea of Scandinavians and foreign merchants to fetch their king.
"Will they bring their king or guards to have us imprisoned?"
Turning to one of her harem girls, Jasmine reassured her. "What purpose would it serve for the Viking king to have us imprisoned? We mean him no harm. Besides, with what I have to offer him, he won't be able to resist," of course, she was referring to the magic lamp.
"Is that wise?" Another of her girls asked. " The power of the magic lamp could make any man powerful beyond their wildest dreams."
Before Jasmine could reply, a melodic sound filled the air and Jasmine looked up to see a dragon the likes of which she had never seen before. Its orange skin and black stripes along its body reminded her of her beloved tiger, Rajah, who unfortunately died protecting her when Johann attacked her home. The dragon noticed Jasmine and came down to greet her, causing the young sultana to smile and extend a hand.
"Aren't you a beautiful dragon," she purred softly. The large dragon only sniffed the sultana's outstretched palm before pressing its snout into her hand. Smiling, Jasmine heard the dragon continue a melodic tune, almost as if it was humming to itself. "Amazing. What kind of dragon are you?"
"His name is Garffiljorg, and he's a Death Song dragon."
Jasmine was expecting many things when she would meet the Viking king, she was expecting a large, hairy mountain of a man. Instead, she was taken aback by the tall, lean, and handsome man before her. His ivory skin was tanned, indicating he was a man who was outside much of the time, his shaggy hair reminded her of a lion's mane, and his leather armor hugged his lean frame perfectly.
