A/N: SO sorry for the delay you guys. June is a VERY busy month for me, my birthday was on the 27th, and I've been caught up with personal life as well as other priorities. With that said, sorry for the wait and I appreciate your patience. Let's not keep you waiting any longer.
(The Citadel)
Harald Haraldson and his son, Ulfbjorn the Undefeated had never seen such a massive coalition of warriors in their lifetime. With this foreign force, any kingdom or empire could be sacked.
The only kingdom that Harald Haraldson wanted to be utterly destroyed was Hiccup Haddock's kingdom. Once it was destroyed, he rebuilt it from the ground up and led the Vikings into a new age of wealth, power, and prosperity; the name Haraldson would live on long after his bones had been reduced to dust, he would see to it personally.
"I've never seen such a gathering of armies," Ulfbjorn murmured. Even though he was a well-famed mercenary who had amassed a fortune, the heir to the Fairhair dynasty was left breathless at the sight of tens of thousands of ships all docked at the harbor of this island. Turning to his father, the mercenary heir raised a curious eyebrow. "You are aware that this coalition of foreign armies doesn't care about your campaign for the Viking throne, yes?"
Grunting in acknowledgment, Harald replied softly. "I'm well aware, my son. Drago Bludvist and his followers are born conquerors. And if a temporary alliance guarantees that Hiccup Haddock and his pathetic kingdom are conquered, then I am a happy man." A smirk graced his face as he turned to look his son in the eyes. "Once Hiccup is dealt with, I will assume leadership of our people and all Scandinavian people and expand the Fairhair dynasty." Looking past his son to look at the Blackstone Legion's ruthless master, Apollyon, Harald grunted. "But if we wish for our family to ascend, we must divide and conquer. Have you sent your men to speak with your aunt?"
"I have, father. Three of my best men left for Paris and will speak with your sister and mother and attempt to attain their support," he then raised an eyebrow in curiosity. "And what would you have of me?"
"You, my son, will go to Hiccup's established settlement in the Kingdom of Corona. You will pose as a warrior of fortune and offer your services to Hiccup and ultimately gain his trust. When the time comes to dethrone Stoick's disappointment, you will be the blade that stabs the false king in the back."
Bowing his head in understanding, Ulfbjorn voiced his thoughts. "They will be suspicious of me, no doubt. However, I won't let them suspect that I am your son or that my loyalty is to you and our family name." He then inquired further. "When do you wish for me to depart?"
"You will leave at the earliest opportunity, my son. Time is of the essence, and you must act quickly before our alliance with the Northern Alliance and those supporting them demands that we attack Hiccup's kingdom."
Understanding the need for speed, Ulfbjorn placed two fingers in his mouth and whistled loudly. Within minutes, a dragon landed behind the father-son duo, causing them both to turn and become face-to-face with a Dashing Gripstabber, a hybrid between a Speed Stinger and a Deathgripper. The fierce hybrid approached Ulfbjorn and nuzzled its head against the heir's armored chest.
"Ah, Sting, good to see you too, boy," awarding the dragon with affectionate scratches, Ulfbjorn grabbed the dragon's head with both hands and looked into the beast's eyes. "You and I are going on a journey, and we'll be leaving very soon. I hope you're ready for a long flight." Sting growled softly, his eyes soft, as if reassuring his bonded rider that he was more than ready to fly a long-distance journey.
After packing the necessary provisions and supplies needed for the journey ahead, Ulfbjorn mounted Sting and looked to his father. Nothing needed to be said, and like any obedient son, Ulfbjorn wanted to not only see his task to completion but see that his family name took its rightful place as the rulers they were fated to be. Giving his father a firm nod, the Fairhair heir took to the sky until he and his dragon disappeared in the gloomy clouds above.
