Today was the day.

Graduation.

Her last day ever standing in Sherman Oaks High School. She adjusted her cap with a few bobby pins to keep it from falling. The girl was excited, sad, but excited. It was just bittersweet; she'll actually have to start acting like an adult.

She smiled as she saw her boyfriend walk across the stage and to the microphone. He has been stressing about his speech that he didn't even let Carly see what he wrote.

"Hi. So listen I know you're expecting me to like take a shot on stage or do a sexy dance or whatever." Paxton said earning some cheers from the girls in front. Don't be jealous Carly. "That of course is only reserved for Carly." The boy winked at the girl who blushed. "Instead I'm gonna talk about hard work."

"Boo!"

"Trent. Come on man."

"Sorry. Reflex. I love you bro." Trent yelled, causing the girl to laugh.

"For the longest time. I never really had to work that hard. And honestly things came really easily for me because I was dope at swimming, and according to the yearbook, I'm kinda pretty."

"Yeah you are!" Carly yelled.

Paxton chuckled at his silly girlfriend. "After my incident where I couldn't swim anymore, I lost all motivation to do anything. I lost the people that have been there for me since day one." The boy looked over to Eddie. "But then I realized, the one person who you treated like crap, will still stand by you no matter what. Senior year taught me what's it like to be my own. Act like an adult. And really it sucks. I wish I could stay a kid forever. But we all have to grow up some how. I had to think about my future. The people I care about's future." Paxton looked at his girlfriend. Here goes nothing. "Which is why I chose to go to USC because it's exactly 13.9 miles away from UCLA."

Carly felt a tear come down. She wasn't expecting that.

"Even if you're going to a different college as your best friend or a different state, country, just know no matter where we are in the world, we will always be Crickets for life." Paxton chuckled when he said that. "Yeah I watched High Musical 3 for inspiration. And I must say Wildcats for life sounds a hella lot better than Crickets for life." The boy said earning so laughs from the crowd. "And with that, I would like to hand the mic over to someone who actually really earned the right to speak, our valedictorian Brenda Kang."

Carly clapped, whipping her tears away. She could not ruin her makeup right now.

"Carly Tan."

"Whooooo! That's my sister, That's my sister." The girl heard her brother yell as she shaked the principal's hand and posed for a picture. She walked back down successfully in her heels and back to her seat.

"And I give you the Class of 2022 of Sherman Oaks High School!"
