Scarlet was in Eddie's van as they drove to her house together. She hated the feeling of being watched. It never settled well with her. Eddie noticed, unbuckling her and pulling her close. Wrapping an arm around her, he felt her snuggle in his side.
"Sweetheart, everything is gonna be okay now, okay?"
She nodded in silence. Eddie pulled her in closer, kissing the top of her head.
"I'll always protect you, baby. You know I'm here for you."
"I know," she softly replied. "I love you."
He was shocked but smiled at the phrase. He couldn't help but feel happy that she said it. He had to say it back.
"I love you too."
He drove in front of her house and stopped. Eddie demanded that she waited. She laughed as she watched him run to her side and open her door. Eddie pulled open the door and waited for her to hop out.
"Milady," he smiled.
Scarlet slid out and kissed his cheek. Walking to her house, Eddie froze with a smile on his face. God, he loved her. Eddie shut the door and ran up to her house, finding her mother waiting for them both.
"Eddie, it's good to see you again," her mother greeted.
"It's good to see you too, Ma'am," he smiled, hugging her.
Scarlet smiled and led Eddie to her room. His jaw dropped, seeing how beautiful, organized, and metal it was. There were metal posters everywhere yet it was in a perfect color scheme of black and red. She sat on the edge of her bed and waited for - anything. Instead, she found Eddie examining every little thing and she smiled brightly. He saw her cassettes, her little figurines of ballerinas where she once took ballet, and her photo of the two of them as kids. He picked up the photo and smiled brightly, seeing tiny him and her in the playground, giving each other a side hug with the most basic, forced, cheesy smile. Scarlet walked over and leaned on him.
"I forgot about this photo," he mumbled.
"It's my favorite. Look at us babies," she giggled.
Eddie put it back down and held her back. He kissed her forehead gently while she was soaking in the love that radiated off of him.
"I'm so happy you're back. I've missed you so damn much," he whispered.
"I told you I was going to come back," she reminded him.
"I'm so glad you did, baby," he smiled softly.
Her mom was shouting downstairs and it made the two panic. Running downstairs, Scarlet froze. Dad. He was standing in the doorway with an angered expression as Mom scolded him for leaving her and Scarlet. He rose a hand to hit her and Scarlet pushed by Eddie and took the blow.
"Don't ever hit my mother, you asshole," she quietly commanded.
"Baby! Sweetie, I'm sorry!"
"No, I'm sorry!" She yelled.
Scarlet stood to her feet, feeling rage and anger overwhelm her. Eddie's eyes went wide. He had never seen her pissed off.
"You left us! You chose a college girls fucking pussy instead of staying with your only child!! You chose to want to hit my mother because you can't handle the fucking truth!"
"I am your father! Watch your tone!"
"You are a fucking sperm donor, asshole! You are dead to me! You have chosen to walk out and cheat every damn day of your pathetic, miserable life!! Get out of our house, get out of Hawkins, and stay the fuck out of our lives because it's sure as hell better without you," Scarlet scolded.
Her cheek throbbed in pain, but it was starting to slowly turn purple. Her dad stood in shock but anger. His precious baby girl was against him - and for good reason. Scarlet grabbed the bat at the door and was ready to go at him, but he turned around and got in his car. Eddie rushed to her side as her mother grabbed an ice pack.
"Baby, you shouldn't have done that," her mother softly told her.
"For you? Anything, mom," Scarlet smiled. "You've protected me for this long. It was time I returned the favor."
"Princess, he hit you. He shouldn't have done that because now, your cheek is bruised," Eddie worriedly replied.
"I'll be okay. Promise."
Eddie grabbed the ice and placed it gently on her cheek as she winced a little. He wanted to go after him, but his girl was more important. Scarlet took over the ice from Eddie and stood to her feet. Her mother turned off the stove and ordered pizza instead.
"Thank you, jackass," her mother mumbled.
Scarlet sat on the couch, watching the tv when Eddie joined her. He wrapped an arm around her shoulders. Leaning into him, Scarlet couldn't stop thinking about how her mom was alone. She didn't deserve to be alone.
Later that night, her bruise was more visible but it wasn't terrible thanks to the ice. She sat before her vanity, examining it when Eddie wrapped his arms around her.
"Sweetheart, you okay?"
"He's such a fucking asshole," she whispered.
She began to cry angry tears. Eddie held her closer and tighter. He felt terrible for her. She didn't need to go through this hell.
"Do you want to talk about it now?"
"I found him next door in the neighbors hot tub with her, kissing on her and touching her. I was pissed about it, so I woke mom. When I did, she had already suspected of it. Dad said he wanted to work on their marriage, but one day, he grabbed his things and just - left," she explained. "Said that mom wasn't a good wife, but when I asked about me? He just said that I wasn't the daughter he wanted. Like I said, fucking asshole."
Eddie kissed her head. He could feel the pain she was feeling. He wanted more happiness for her. Eddie picked Scarlet up in his arms and carried her to her bed. She was scared at first, but relaxed when she knew his grip on her was tight. He placed her in bed and cuddled right beside her, turning her lamp off gently.
"Let's just get some sleep, okay?"
"Yeah, I think that'll be better than remembering pain," Scarlet admitted.
She took a glance outside her windows and saw a shadow staring into her room. Shooting up, her heart raced in fear. Eddie grew worried and started rubbing her arms.
"Baby, what is it?"
"Someone is watching me," she whispered.
Eddie sprung up and saw the shadow. He rushed outside to find Carver running away. Eddie wasn't going to run away from her house. This was going to get out of hand. Eddie returned to the house and closed her curtains, making sure they were locked safely.
"Jason was watching you again," Eddie told her. "I'm not leaving you alone for a mere second."
"Except for school," she whined. "I - I don't know what to do."
"Princess, he will not mess with you at school because he's in all of my classes. He won't mess with you, I promise."
She nodded as he kissed her deeply, holding her waist. Eddie rolled slowly on top of Scarlet and felt his cheeks get hot. He started kissing her neck, slow and tinder. It was filled with passion, desire, love. Eddie began to give her hickeys, sucking her weak spot on her neck while she softly moaned. Her moans were his weakness. Just hearing them while he's intimate with her just made him crave her more. Eddie pulled away and looked into her eyes.
"You okay, Eddie?" she quietly asked.
"Yeah," he stammered. "Just - wow."
"Wow? Is that all you got?" Scarlet teased.
"Alright, enough funny business," Eddie chuckled.
He pulled the blanket over their bodies as she giggled. Eddie kissed her again, but the kiss was more steamy. His hands explored her body and he was loving every bit of it. Scarlet felt as if she couldn't think properly. Eddie was a sex god in her imagination. It was the only thing that came to mind, but even while it's a great idea, Eddie wanted to show her his side of his sex world. He pulled away and she knew something was wrong.
"Hey, why'd you stop?"
"Because - there's something I want to do, but - we'd have to be at my trailer for it."
"You wanna go?"
"No, it's okay," he reassured. "It can wait for next time."
He laid next to her, pulling her close to his body. Scarlet ran her hands over his shirt, feeling terrible she didn't have any pajamas for him to wear. Yawning, her eyes grew heavy and Eddie watched patiently with a smile. She was perfect. Scarlet was the woman he'd ever wanted, the woman of his dreams. As she fell asleep, Eddie kept watch on the window. Even though it was closed and locked, he didn't want Scarlet harmed. He didn't want Jason around her. Her safety was his number one priority. Always.
