Eddie cradled Scarlet in his arms, sobbing as she lay in his arms. He was afraid she was dead. He was worried his future was gone. The police finally reached the roof, their guns aimed at him. They could see a broken Eddie Munson, but they ignored it. They chose to believe that this was thanks to Eddie.
"Sweetheart, don't leave me," he whispered in her ear. "Please, don't you dare leave me."
She stirred in his arms as the police yelled at him to let Scarlet go and put his hands in the air. He would not walk away in cuffs and leave her behind. Scarlet's eyes slowly fluttered open as her vision was slightly blurry.
"Eddie..?" she moaned.
"Princess! Jesus, you scared the shit out of me," he weakly chuckled. "Are you okay?"
"Did we save Hawkins?" she quietly asked.
Eddie smiled, chuckling a bit. Nodding, he pressed a kiss to her forehead. When he pulled away, he could feel the police around him relax as he softly interacted with Scarlet.
"Yeah, Hawkins is safe. We did it," he smiled.
"Then I'm okay," she smiled.
Scarlet tried to move, but - she couldn't. One slight move of her body and pain fired off in each part of each corner. Scarlet winced and shouted in pain, which worried Eddie. He was scared. It wasn't just for her safety and well-being but for the baby.
"I think I need to go to the hospital," she whined.
"Yeah, you should," Eddie whispered.
He was able to pick her up in his arms as she attempted to hold onto him the best she could. The chief walked over and placed a hand on his shoulder. Eddie was startled for a moment.
"Son, you didn't start this mess, did you?"
"No, sir, I didn't," Eddie told him. "All I do is play my guitar and play DND. I'm not able to do any magic or shit like that."
"Then I believe an apology is in order for all the hell we put you through," he told Eddie.
Eddie ignored him completely. The chief didn't matter right now. It never did.

FIVE YEARS LATER

Eddie turned off the van and sat back, looking at his trailer. He could see Scarlet with the baby, dancing around in circles as the other two were jumping around her, trying to get the same treatment. He laughed. This was his family. This was his own little piece of heaven on earth.
One of the kids shoved their faces into the window as they watched Eddie step out of his van. A big smile crept on their faces, and they grew excited.
"Daddy's home!!" Anastasia shouted.
"Mommy, can we open the door for daddy?? Please??" William begged.
Scarlet looked down at the two and saw their hands folded and eyes as big as the sky. Sighing, she knew there was nothing else she could do to contain their excitement. Smiling, she nodded; they quickly played rock, paper, scissors to decide who would open the door. William won, which was only fair since he asked the question. They rushed to the door and waited. As Eddie approached the door, William threw the door open and tackled him to the ground. Eddie grunted and then laughed as he held his kids close. William and Anastasia laughed with him until Scarlet looked at them with a smile. With Eddie, they could get away with anything. With Scarlet, they knew they couldn't fool around.
"Sorry, sweetheart," Eddie chuckled. "I guess they just love me."
"Yeah, because you let them do whatever they want," she laughed.
Eddie pressed a kiss to her lips, hearing the quiet sounds of disgust from the two. As he pulled away, he kissed the youngest member, Alice, who was named after Eddie's mother. At first, he was against naming his daughter such a name, but the more he thought about it, the more he loved it. Alice giggled and grabbed Eddie's hair, yanking on it hard. Scarlet pulled her away as the rest of the Munson family rushed inside. Scarlet took a deep breath and shook her head. It's been five years. Five years of a peaceful and content Hawkins. She didn't worry about anything lurking behind closed doors, any creature coming from the upside down, or any scientist trying to figure it out and making it worse.
Wayne drove up to the trailer as Scarlet was about to walk inside. He always passed their trailer when he was leaving or going home.
"Scarlet!"
She turned to find his smiling face in his truck, and she couldn't help but smile back.
"Wayne! Are you coming over?"
"As much as I want to, probably not tonight. The factory had me working like a dog," he explained. "Probably best to just heat up a microwave meal and just go to bed."
"How many times have I told you to have a proper meal?" she laughed. "Come on and get some food. Besides, they miss you."
Wayne sighed and turned off his truck. Scarlet knew how to get to him. He hated it too. He slammed the door and heard two sets of feet running to the doorway. William and Anastasia grinned brightly and ran to him.
"Grandpa!! I missed you!!" William bellowed.
"I missed him more!!" Anastasia argued.
"I'm oldest, so I miss him more!!"
Wayne laughed as he picked them both up and hugged them tightly. Scarlet followed closely behind him as Eddie grabbed Alice to feed her. It was his turn anyway. Wayne loved on the other two as Scarlet smiled. She passed Eddie, who stopped her.
"Princess, you okay?"
"Never better," she smiled.
Leaning down, she placed a soft kiss on his lips. The kids were too busy with grandpa to notice. Everything was as perfect as it possibly could be. As Scarlet put the finishing touches on dinner, a memory returned from five years before this ideal life.
