The next few months had been quiet yet peaceful thanks to Carver's father. Scarlet was waiting for Eddie to call to see if they could see each other tonight. She leaned on the counter of the library and yawned heavily. Her eyes grew heavy and she was close to passing out. Eddie chose to skip lunch to see Scarlet, but found her snoozing at the counter. He chuckled and kissed her head, softly waking her.
"Fuck," she quietly cursed. "I didn't mean to snooze."
"How long have you been out?"
She quickly looked at the clock to find out she'd been out for fifteen minutes. Scarlet kept cursing to herself, pacing around behind the counter until Eddie grabbed her hand.
"Sweetheart, calm down! It's okay," he chuckled. "Did you sleep at all last night?"
"I think I got like two hours? Babe, college is crazy difficult," she whined.
"Yet you are much smarter than I am," he smiled.
Eddie kissed her softly which made her more awake than she thought. He could feel how tired she was. She was practically leaning on him. Scarlet looked up and saw his brown eyes lovingly looking in hers and all she could do was smile.
"Would you like to reschedule meeting up after I get out of school?" Eddie wondered.
"No, I still want to see you," she whined.
"Not when you're exhausted, princess," Eddie quietly told her. "Look, I've got DND and a possible deal later. Why don't you just rest tonight?"
"You sure?"
Eddie kissed her one more time, smiling brightly. She hugged him tightly as her boss came out of her office. Eddie let her go and handed her a fast food bag.
"What's this?"
"Thought you'd be hungry. You know I can't cook," he chuckled.
"Thank you, Ed," she smiled.
Eddie kissed her cheek and checked the clock, cursing quietly. He had to run back but he didn't want to go. Scarlet insisted that he left to go back and he whined but he listened to her.
"Go home, Scarlet. Get proper rest tonight," Delores told her.
"Thanks, Delores," she smiled.

Scarlet woke to her phone ringing nonstop. Groggy, she answered to find a frightened Eddie. She couldn't make out what he said except for he was at Rick's. When the call ended, she rushed over to find Eddie in his house pacing back and forth.
"Baby, what's going on?" she quietly asked.
Eddie didn't hesitate. He ran over and threw his arms around her, sobbing onto her shoulder. Scarlet held him close and led him to Ricks couch.
"Okay, baby. Tell me what happened."
"I was making a deal with Chrissy Cunningham and the next thing that I knew, she was in a trance and I couldn't wake her and then she levitated and her bones snapped and - and.."
"Hey, it's okay, Eddie."
He fell on her crying even more. Eventually, he had calmed down and fell asleep on her lap. Scarlet felt terrible for him. She ran her fingers through his curly hair and watched him sleep.
"My poor Eddie," she whispered.
The more she watched him, the more she realized her eyes were growing heavy. She nodded off by simply watching Eddie.
"Eddie!!" She shouted. "Don't you dare walk out!"
"Princess, go back, okay? This is something that I have to do."
"You're going to get yourself killed!" She whined.
He kissed her hard as if it were going to be the last time they'd see each other. He watched her climb up and cut the tied sheets down while Dustin and her both panicked. Dustin grabbed a chair and dragged it over offering the first jump to Scarlet. She landed on her back where she winced in pain but found the strength to get up and bike to Eddie. It was already too late. He was choking on blood as well as losing it. She cradled his head and sobbed.
"Princess, please stop," he begged. "I'll be okay."
"Don't lie to me! You are far from okay!" she cried out.
"Baby, don't cry," Eddie begged. "Look at me?"
She blinked away her tears and looked at him. His brown eyes were weak but were so bright. He weakly managed to place a hand on her cheek and she leaned into it.
"Please, don't leave me," she whispered.
"How could I ever leave you? You'll always be my soulmate and I'll always be with you, you know," he explained.
"Eddie, I'm..."
Eddie shook her awake, clearly worried about her. She slowly raised her head, yawning as he began to explain he heard a car and how she'd been sleeping for hours. Looking out, she recognized the car but Eddie ran in fear. Stepping out, she waited until Eddie called her name. Looking back, she saw how he was afraid. She had to make a decision and she chose to run to Eddie.
"Under the tarp," she whispered.
"Hide with me."
"Baby."
"Please?"
She had no other choice. Hiding under the tarp, she felt Eddie hold her tight as he tried to quiet his breathing. She could hear Dustin and Steve, but something had Eddie on edge. The two stayed out until he fled out from under the tarp and went towards Steve with a broken bottle.
"Baby, stop!!" she shouted.
"Eddie! Wait!!" Dustin added.
Once Eddie backed off and calmed down, she held him tightly as he explained what happened to Chrissy. Eddie held her hands that were resting on his stomach for comfort. He needed Scarlet by his side - and he's glad she came. All she did was hold him, quietly letting him know she was by his side - no matter what. She believed him. He couldn't get rid of a stink bug. Scarlet placed a small kiss on the back of his baffle vest - which he felt and appreciated.
When the group left, Scarlet sat on his lap to make sure he wasn't going to break down again. He kept his hands on her waist as she twirled his curls in her fingers.
"Princess, I didn't do this"
"I know you didn't, baby. I believe you. Remember, we're in this together," Scarlet quietly reminded him.
"I know, baby. It's just hard to take all of this in," he openly explained. "Another world underneath Hawkins?"
"Hey, the people don't know this, about the upside down that is, but babe, you can get through this," she comforted.
Eddie kissed her softly and gently. She could feel the fear, the despair, everything that he was feeling. She was probably an empath and didn't know it. When he pulled away, he rested his forehead on hers and just stared at her. How was he so damn lucky?
"Baby, what did I do?"
"What do you mean?" Scarlet wondered.
"To deserve you."
She kissed him tenderly and snaked her hands to his biceps, giving them a gentle rub. Eddie couldn't tell what she was thinking but knew this kiss was full of love. As she pulled away, she stood to her feet and walked to the edge of Ricks shed.
"You remember when I was about to leave and I had doubts of us being friends?" she asked quietly.
Eddie watched her as she stared out at lovers lake. She had a reason why she brought this up. He could see it in her face.
"You told me that we were meant to be friends, we were supposed to meet and I asked why do you think that? You said that I was the only girl in school that you wanted to be friends with because I was the only girl willing to put up with you," she smiled. "It made me realize that you needed me in your life just as much as I needed you. Eddie, we're a perfect match - just like Aragorn and Arwen. They have their differences, literally, but we were meant for each other."
Eddie stood to his feet and walked towards her, holding her from behind as he planted small kisses on her shoulder. She held his hands that rested on her stomach and smiled. Feeling his arms around her like this felt right. It was simply perfect.
As the sun went down, they cuddled together in hopes they'd get some rest, but they still had to question how they were going to get the situation at hand dealt with. Scarlet stayed up most of the most, trying to comfort a sleeping Eddie from nightmares of what she assumed was to be Chrissy.
"She was my middle school crush," he chuckled.
"Well that doesn't calm my nerves," Scarlet openly admitted.
"I'm sorry, baby. I'm just trying to explain how horrifying it was. Imagine if it were me like that and you found me," he explained.
She sat for a moment and realized that it was so much worse than he expressed it to be. Eddie brought her hands to his lips and pressed a gentle kiss against them.
"I didn't realize but still. It's kinda difficult knowing you were alone with your middle school crush," she expressed.
"I know," he whispered. "I'm sorry, princess. I should've told you."
She kissed him and cuddled with him as he held her tight.
Scarlets eyes started to grow heavy, cuddling closer to Eddie. Closing her eyes, she only hoped it'd be over soon.
