"Eddie, slow down! I can't keep up!" Scarlet laughed.
"Then you've gotten slow!"
Eddie ran around the park as Scarlet tried to catch him, but it was no use. She stopped at a bench, sitting down to catch her breath. Eddie noticed and walked to her. He kissed her cheek gently as he hugged her neck from behind.
"You okay, Princess?"
"I'm okay."
She faced him and kissed him softly at first but the kiss heated up.
Eddie shot up from bed, stunned at the dream he had - but also realizing an issue: morning wood. He cursed to himself and fell back to the bed, staring at the ceiling. Out of all people, he was in love with and lusting after his best friend. What kind of pervert was he? He had to take care of it. It wasn't going to go away like magic.
Eddie reached into his boxers and grabbed a hold of his dick, stroking it slowly to ease some pressure. He closed his eyes and imagined Scarlet doing the work. He could see her eyes piercing at him, begging for more than touching his penis. God, he wanted her. He needed her. Eddie moaned her name quietly as he quickened the pace. Before he knew it, his release came and his hand was officially messy. This was his best friend for crying out loud and he was wanting her to be his in every way.
"Eddie, you idiot! She doesn't even like you like that," he groaned. "What the hell am I doing?"
Eddie gets up, cleans up his mess and gets dressed for school. The entire time, he is constantly thinking when he is going to see her again. It's going to drive him insane. Maybe she'd want to join Hellfire next time? She was always the best at DND. Did she even still play? The orange juice he was pouring spilled over his hand as he was lost in thought. He cursed loudly as Wayne returned from work.
"Eddie, what's gotten into you?"
"Scarlet is back and - I think I like her," he admitted.
"Good luck," Wayne chuckled.

Scarlet was stocking the book shelves at the library when a loud van blasting metal sped by. She chuckled. Must've been Eddie. The music turned off as Scarlet slid down the ladder. Turning around to focus on some returns, Eddie barges in loudly. Scarlet jumps but giggles.
"Eddie, quiet down, will you?!" she whispered.
"Sorry!"
"How'd you know I was here?"
"Your mom told me! Anyways, are you free later? What time are you getting off?"
"Not until seven. Why do you ask?"
Eddie leaned closer over the counter with a mischievous smirk.
"I'd like to hang out with you," he whispered.
"You dork," she quietly chuckled. "Okay, sounds like a plan."
"Great! I'll pick you up, alright? I just didn't see you driving."
"I can but dad took my car. It's okay. I'll get a new one," she smiled. "Tonight at seven?"
Eddie nodded with a smile. Scarlet couldn't keep the smile from being so bright. Eddie noticed. She returned to the books and he watched her a second more. She must've done this is Nevada. Eddie was amazed by her until he realized he had to get going. He ran through the doors and whooped loudly outside.
"What a dork," she laughed quietly.
"Boyfriend?" The librarian asked.
"No. He's an old friend of mine."
"Peculiar," the librarian mumbled.
Scarlet rolled her eyes, but she couldn't stop falling in love with Eddie if she tried. She placed the books on the cart to return them to their places and saw Dustin run in. He eyes her for a second or two before they went wide in excitement.
"Scarlet!"
"Hey, Henderson," she softly smiled.
"Have you seen Eddie yet? I'm sure he's dying to see you!"
"Already have plans with him tonight. What can I help you with?"
"New DND books?"
Scarlet pointed to her right where in the corner of the room sat a box that had been opened full of brand new DND books with guides, new characters and creatures. He rushed over and searched through them one by one. He must've been there for hours. New people she didn't recognize came in and it got pretty boring. It wasn't until Steve came in and she realized that Eddie wasn't the only hottie of Hawkins.
"Harrington?"
"Hey, Scar! I was told by Dustin you were here," he smiled. "How - how you've been?"
"Mom and I are good."
"Dad?"
"Asshole."
"Do I wanna know?"
"Probably not while I'm working, no. I've got some books to deal with, but if you need help," she began.
Scarlet pointed to the bell and walked to the back. Steve was a little disappointed. He saw that Dustin was right. She's gotten hotter since the last time she was around. Steve quickly left and saw Dustin smiling.
"Huh?"
"Okay, so yeah, she's hot, alright?" Steve admitted. "You think she wants to go out with me?"
"Oh, absolutely not. She's Eddie's girl, for sure," Dustin honestly replied. "You have no chance in absolute hell getting her as your girl. Plus, she's not your type. You just found her hot."
"Jesus, Henderson. You gotta bring a guy down like that?"
Dustin shrugs his shoulders and walks off. Steve was furious with him, but went back to work only to see Robin already furious with him.
"What?"
"What do you mean what?! I opened up the store to find you weren't here, you're ten minutes late and three of your girlfriends already came in asking for you, so I had to send their skimpy asses on their way! Where were you Harrington?!"
"I saw Scarlet, okay? Dustin said she was back so - I had to see for myself."
"I don't even know who that is, but get to work already! I'm losing my ever loving mind!"

Eddie pulled up to the library, finding Scarlet to just hop out of the building. He honked and made her jump. He chuckled. She didn't find it funny. Scarlet got in his van and smiled.
"Alright! Let's go!" Eddie shouted.
"What are we doing?" she giggled.
"I thought we could relive old days," he smiled lightly. "You know, hot dogs in the park..."
"Swings and skipping rocks," Scarlet finished, smiling. "Watching the sky for any shooting stars to make our wishes on."
Eddie smiled. She remembered, but how could she forget? Spending time at the park with Eddie was when she was her most happiest. As she reminisced, she was staring out the window. Eddie would steal glances of her smile. It made him melt. When they got to the park, Scarlet was thrilled to see the same hot dog stand sitting there.
"He's still here?!"
"Yep. Turned seventy and still wants to sell badass hotdogs," Eddie smiled. "Come on."
They hopped out and Eddie remembered how she liked her hotdog. She smiled but tried to hide how bad she was blushing. Eddie grabbed his wallet out and paid the man when Scarlet offered.
"No, I can't take your money, Scar."
"Why not? You paid for them."
"Yeah, but consider it a welcome back home gift," he softly replied.
He led her to their old picnic bench which still had their names carved into them. She ran her fingers over them and smiled.
"God, this brings back so many memories," she whispered.
"Definitely," Eddie agreed.
He watched her unwrap her hot dog and waited for her reaction. She loved the taste, remembering it exactly as it was when she was a child. Eddie giggled and started on his. Scarlet watched the distance for a bit.
"You okay?"
"Yeah," she smiled. "I'm good. Just missed this place is all."
"Hopefully, you missed me too," he teased.
"Of course, I did. I hated being away from you."
She froze. It could've been taken another way. Eddie smirked as he leaned over and cleared some mustard off the corner of her mouth.
"Jesus, that's embarrassing," she blushed.
"Please, we used to get messy with these all the time," he chuckled. "How's it a little embarrassing?"
Scarlet sighed deeply as she watched Eddie lick the mustard off his thumb. Fuck. She averted her eyes somewhere else so she wouldn't blush anymore than she already had. Finishing her hot dog, Scarlet threw away her trash and saw a swing set. She walked over and gently sat on it. She felt Eddie's hands over hers and she blushed immediately.
"Need a push?"
"Your choice," she replied softly.
Eddie pushed her a little, wanting to talk to her about everything that happened while they were both apart. Either way, she felt safe with Eddie. There was something about him that made her - calm.
"You know, I once went on a date in a park in Nevada," Scarlet admitted.
"Yeah? How'd it go?"
"Well, I'm still single, aren't I?" She laughed. "The guy set up a picnic just to try to fuck me in the back of his car. When he asked me out again, I punched him - and broke his nose."
Eddie laughed. He didn't know that she had to defend herself so much or was it just the one time? He chose to sit in the next swing beside her.
"What all did he do to deserve that?"
"He was disrespectful and sex craved. The last thing I wanted was for him to try to kiss me and he forced himself on me, so I punched him like I said."
"Fucker deserved it," Eddie stated. "No one messes with my girl."
Scarlet heard it, but chose to pretend like she didn't. Eddie was hoping she didn't hear it. It slipped out before he could stop it.
"What was that?"
"Nothing. Forget about it," Eddie began. "Tell me about the deadbeat daddy."
"Oh, that asshole? I'd rather not," she mumbled.
Eddie didn't say anything else. He didn't want to push it. Scarlet kept kicking a pebble at her feet and he saw. Getting to his feet, he pushed Scarlet while yelling tag. Scarlet was stunned at first until she realized what he was doing. Smiling, she ran after him. He was too fast though. There was no way she was going to catch him. Scarlet tripped and fell on her side, but she ended up laughing instead. Eddie rushed over, completely worried.
"Scarlet! Are you okay!?"
"I'm okay," she laughed. "I'm so fucking stupid! I tripped over my own two feet!"
Eddie laughed with her as he hovered over her. When she finally could see from the laughter, she blushed heavily. Eddie was overtop of her and he was close. He looked into her eyes and blushed himself, leaning closer until...
"Okay, can you help me up?"
Shit, Eddie thought.
He stood up and stretched a hand out. Scarlet even knew what he was trying to do. The question is was he going to kiss her and mean it? Grabbing it, Scarlet refused to look at him. She was blushing too hard.
"How about we just go to my place and watch a movie?" Eddie asked.
"Ye-yeah, that's fine," she stuttered nervously.
Eddie pulled her hand too fast and she fell on his chest. They stood there awkwardly for a second. The man at the hot dog stand laughed.
"Just kiss already!" he yelled.
"We're just friends!" Eddie yelled back.
"Whatever you say!" he replied.
