"Hey, wake up Scar." I let out a groan and stretched my legs.
"Molly? What's up?"
"I wasn't going to wake you up but it's," she looked at her watch, "1pm!"
"Oh God, I've practically slept the whole day away." I sat up and rubbed my eyes.
"Happy birthday!" She launched herself at me, giving me a rib crushing hug.
"Damn you remembered."
"Of course, don't be silly, how could I forget?" She bent down and picked up a parcel with a number of envelopes. "For you..." she held them out to me.

The cards were from my grandparents, aunties, uncles and cousins, sent all with a sum of money. Getting to a brown and quite chunky envelope I tore open the top neatly and pulled out a smaller white envelope. Opening it there was a note, it read...

'To my beautiful daughter Scarlett May,

I hope you're enjoying staying at Harringdale and have made friends, your little dog, Sammie is missing you so I'm told, and I'm missing you. I'm sorry for everything Scar; I hope to see you soon. Happy 18th darling, I sent you some money, buy whatever your heart desires and when you come back I'm going to spoil you rotten to make up for everything I've done. I only drink on the weekends now, to a reasonable extent, I have changed, like I promised I would. I love you so much princess and so does mum. Thinking of you, lots of love,

Dad.'

I put down the letter and looked inside the brown envelope. My eyes widened... all I could see were wads of red notes... I didn't want to count it now but this is too much. I put the letter back inside the envelope and sighed.
"Are you okay?"
"Yeah I'm fine, just a bit of a shock, but it's okay."
"Here," she held out another parcel. It was wrapped in purple paper with a blue ribbon tied around it.
"This is from me." She said as I looked at the label with her name written on it in gold. Tearing open the paper, material was revealed.

"Molly...what?" I held out the dress in front of me. It was stunning... The body of it was a dusty pale rose colour. The gold straps were thin and the back was open. The top part down to the waist was fitted and the bottom part looser. "This is the most beautiful dress I've ever seen!" I put my arms around her and squeezed her tightly.
"Thank you so much Molly, you're the best friend ever!"

"Oh and this is from Robert." She handed me a giant box of chocolates, I laughed. The note said; 'Dear Scarlett, thought you were looking a bit skinny so here is a whole evenings worth of gorging yourself, oh save one for me, I like caramel. Have a good one! Rob xxx'

Molly rolled her eyes, "and this..." It was a pink envelope this time. Taking out the paper, it was in a heart shape. "AWW he's sweet." Molly had already figured out who it was from. The writing was incredibly neat,

'To my gorgeous girlfriend Scarlett,

Happy 18th birthday beautiful, only a year behind me now baby. Meet me at the school gates at 7, bring some overnight stuff and wear something nice, not that you don't already look amazing but you get what I mean, see you later, Kellin x'

"Hmm, dress, this, you knew about this didn't you..." I smiled.
"Noooo..." She laughed, "okay, maybe yes but I didn't know about the overnight thing." I wonder what he means by the overnight thing...what has he planned?

It was getting late so I began to pack some overnight belongings. I had trouble deciding on whether I should wear pyjamas... or just underwear... or just a t-shirt and shorts, I don't know. I opted for the shorts and t-shirt eventually. The dress fitted perfectly and was figure hugging. I noticed since I'd came here I had lost quite a bit of weight, which was a good thing; I was never chubby in the first place, now I was actually slender. Molly did my hair again, she curled it and it looked great!

"Don't forget your shoes!" She held out a white box...
"What shoes?"I opened the box and inside was a pair of pastel coloured heels. "This is too much, thank you!" I hugged her again. Slipping them on, they fitted impeccably.
"You need to go now or you'll be late down!" It was already 6:58pm...
"Bye Molly! Thank you again!"
"It's okay," she smiled, "happy birthday again, have a great time!"

I walked up the dark cobblestone path to the gates, approaching closer I could see Kellin sitting on the wall. I hadn't seen him for a few days, I couldn't contain myself and I ran towards him as well as I could in heels. Seeing me he got up and opened his arms. Finally getting to him he wrapped his arms around me and kissed me intensely.
"I missed you so much!" I held him tighter.

"I missed you too, wow you're gorgeous." He said examining me. My stomach twisted under his stare and the sensation was coming back. We walked to his car and he put my bags in the boot. Getting in, he held out a blue velvet box. Inside was a diamond necklace which sparkled under the light of the moon coming through the window.
"Happy birthday," he smiled,
"Kellin I love it, thank you so much!" I kissed him again.

"Let me put it on you." He took it out and did it up around my neck. "It's beautiful."
"Just like you."

"Scarlett I love you." Those words made my heart explode and I almost wanted to cry with happiness.
"I love you too Kellin." He smiled; we shared a long passionate kiss. I'd never felt like this about anyone in my life before and now I knew it was because it was love.
