Chapter 27

It's quite frightening, being woken up by an unidentified sound, when it's completely dark and you have no idea what time it is. Plus I'm here by myself... I pulled myself up, not knowing whether I actually had my eyes open it was that dark. Using only my hands as my guide I embarked on the impossible task of finding the light switch, one which we all know is all fun and games until you stub your toe on something. Jeez where is it? I patted every inch of wall closest to me without moving.

I heard a small tapping sound and frantically yearned for the light. Ah there it is! Nothing was out of it's usual place, where is that sound coming from? I stayed absolutely still, my ears straining themselves to get the smallest sound. I tried desperately to calm my heavy breathing. What the fuck? I heard glass, smashing into smithereens by the sounds of it! But then I realised, the sound had come from inside my house...

I could barely contain my choking fear. Treading as lightly as I could I crept slowly into the hallway... Making out that the sound had come from the kitchen I looked warily around the door to make out what had happened. I noticed it automatically. The breeze from the broken window blew my hair over my shoulders, the whole window had gone completely by the looks of things... How the hell did this happen?! I scanned the entire room. I held my breath as I saw a figure leaning against the table. Every single hair on my body stood up as I caught a glimpse of the intruders face in the pale moonlight.

As quickly as I could I sprinted to the front door. Trying the handle, it turned but I couldn't get the door open! Only after pulling it helplessly I realised that something had been screwed to the door to prevent it opening. The light was switched on revealing the man in full light. Only, he wasn't really a man at all. He was a boy. At least I thought he was. The smirk which played on his lips made me want to collapse. I could just about speak. "It ....it's... You."
