Devil's backbone (Eddie munson au)

Part 19

A scream in the dark pierced the air causing me to sit straight up, my heart going a mile a minute.
Legs kicking wildly makes me look to my left. Eddie's knuckles where white with the death grip he had on his pillow. His eyes were shut tight as they could go. He mumbled help in his sleep.
Reaching over I rub his shoulder gently and he jumps at the touch.

"Eddie?" He jumps at my voice and starts mumbling No over and over. Shaking his shoulder a little and saying his name more firmly, I add "Eddie it's a nightmare. Your having a nightmare."

His eyes fly open and they are frantic and his breathing erratic. When he sees me his eyes start to tear up.
"Sarah?" He says his voice shaking with fear.
"Yes I'm here. It was just a nightmare." pulling him into my chest, slowly rubbing his back till his breathing evened out.
"Do you want to talk about it?" I ask but he shakes his head no.
"No just let me hold you." He says sitting up and bit and switched out positions, pulling me into his chest.

"When things get hairy I think you need to skip town. I can't have you see this shit." He says squeezing me a little tighter. Pulling away I look up at him.
"No. We are in this together now. I'm not leaving your side."
"But it's dangerous, you could get killed."
"And so could you. You almost did. My place is by your side. Til the end." Looking deep into my eyes he takes a moment to think. He Nods his head.
"Ok. Til the end." He says hands tangling in my hair pulling me close.
"I love you" he says barely above a whisper before  kissing me passionately.

Hearing a disturbance coming from down the hall, Eddie and I get up and crack the door open.
Hopper was carrying a limp Will over his shoulder with a concerned Joyce behind him.
Following them into the room i ask Joyce if she needs anything, but she shakes her head no.
On the bed the unconscious boy mumbles something before his eyes fly open and looks frantically around the room.  As he goes to sit up hopper grabs his shoulders.
"It's ok Will your here with us safe."  Wills eyes connects with his mom and his eyes tear up.

"I don't know where I was He was talking to me. He wanted me to join him. He showed me what he has planned. It's horrible mom. Fire and death everywhere." He was shaking so much I could visible see it. His mother pulling into Her arms comforting him.
"We are working on a plan. We won't let him win."

Seeing such a intimate moment I grab Eddie's hand and pull him away, Giving the small family some time to comfort the youngest member. Walking down stairs I head to the kitchen to start breakfast for the large group. I just started cracking some eggs when Nancy walks past waving with Keys in her hand.

"Wonder where she is going." Eddie says sitting at the island watching me cook. Shrugging I continue cooking waiting for the kitchen to be packed with the other occupants of the house. As they start to file in a grab a plate and set some French toast aside for will, I plan on taking it up once the rest of the toast is cooked.

"I'll take it up to him." Jonathan says taking the plate from me.
"You cooked. You should be able to eat a hot breakfast." He explains before walking out.

Just as we were starting to do the dishes we hear Nancy open the front door and call out to us.
"Hey guys some one is here for a visit." Peaking out interest we head to the front door. Rounding the corner I see a tall young teen with dark skin and a brilliant smile, and a red headed girl in a wheel chair, her eyes were pure white and unfocused but a small smile still placed on her lips.
"Max!" Dustin rushed forward to give her a hug, causing her to jump a little. Soon as he stood up Mike was ready to give her a hug but El pushes him aside wrapping her best friend in a hug.
"I've missed you so much." I hear El whisper to Max.
"I missed you too."

"Who's all hear? Sound off." Max says sounding nervous but her voice still lightly joking.
"Mike,dustin, Jonathan, Steve, Eddie and Sarah. Joyce hopper and will are you stairs" El says listing everyone crowded in the hall way.
