I.
"Running late or something?" Robin joked with her roommate, who was frantically running around their 2-bedroom apartment collecting his things for the first day at his new job.
"Rob, where the hell is my laptop?" Steve ignored her snarky remark, and stopped in his tracks, shooting her a quick glance.
"How should I know, dingus?" Robin shrugged her shoulders, smiling to herself. Steve's laptop was on the table across from her, but of course, she wasn't going to say anything to him about it. "Have you checked right in front of your eyes?"
Steve glared at his best friend, already done with her shit for the day. It was seven in the morning, and he was full on panicking. Right before Steve commented back to her, he got a glimpse of his laptop sitting across from Robin. "Really, Robs, you weren't going to tell me it was right there in front of you?"
"I wanted to let you figure it out for yourself," Robin tossed the last piece of her toast into her mouth and stood up from the small dining room table.
"Thanks," Steve scoffed and rolled his eyes.
He'd been used to these things with Robin. He knew he panicked too much and Robin would make him calm down in order to find what he was looking for. Usually, it was right in front of him.
"Oh! I have an old friend coming over for dinner tonight! Will you be here?" Robin questioned, giving Steve his car keys, as that was what he was currently looking for.
"School lets out at three, so probably. I can leave you guys alone if you want time to catch up," Steve shrugged, taking his car keys and thanking Robin for finding them.
"I kind of have a huge crush on her, so I'd prefer we have some time alone, but I won't kick you out if you're home," Robin explained, watching her best friend collect his things and finally start to calm down.
"I'll probably order takeout then. Good luck at work today," Steve gave Robin a small wave before rushing out the door of their first floor apartment. He didn't bother locking the door behind him and got to his car, getting in and driving away.
To say he was nervous for his first day teaching at his old high school was an understatement. He wasn't sure what teachers were still there, and he wasn't sure how he was going to do. He had only taught at one other school, and he knew he was good at it, he just couldn't help but have crippling anxiety about his first day.
As he pulled up to the school, Steve had major flashbacks from high school. He hadn't been here since he graduated, and it felt odd to be back there. He saw students piling into the front doors, and took a few deep breaths before getting out of his car and heading towards the front office.
"As I live and breathe, is that Steve Harrington?" The front desk receptionist, Steve knew her as Ms. F, exclaimed, grabbing a folder off her desk.
"Hi, Ms. F. I was told to come see you before going to my classroom?" Steve gave her a small smile and a wave, and Ms. F nodded.
"Yes! Here you go, this is a folder of information you'll need throughout the year, rules on how you can and cannot decorate the classroom, et cetera," Ms. F handed him the folder she had tucked under her arm, and Steve thanked her before going to the classroom he was assigned to.
The classroom was half decorated, leaving some room for improvement. Steve didn't have any plans for decorating his classroom, but would try to think of something during the lunch period today.
Steve noticed he was across from the music room, and hoped that wouldn't disturb his teaching. He hadn't met any of the other teachers yet, assuming some of them were still the same from a few years ago.
