Chapter 6 (Betas)

Amber's POV

"Amber?"

"Beta Cora , it's nice to see you." I greet bowing my head slightly.

"You two know each other?" Rose asks surprised

"Yeah, she used to sneak me food and help me get... cleaned up sometimes when she was at my old pack." I smile thankfully and Hailey just nods.

"Help clean you up?" Nat asks

"... can we talk about this later?" I ask weakly and they both nod looking concerned.

"Ok, so this is my beta Cora which apparently you know already. This is Natalies beta Antonio, this is my gamma Elijah and this is Natalie's gamma, Abby." I nod and shake their hands.

"Guys this is our mate Amber."

"Let's go home baby." Rosalie whispers into my ear making me shiver. I nod and we all get up and start to walk home.

"What did you mean when you said that Cora would her clean you up?" Nat asks while we walk me in the middle holding both their hands.

"My pack wasn't very... accepting. If you were different then you were names a freak. One of the pack members saw some of my drawing and deemed me... a word I rather not say. Basically they found out I was into girls which is not how my pack thought was correct. They thought men should be in charge. Dominate females. Females should stay home, take care of the kids, cook for the men. Oh and let's not forget, the female should get pregnant as soon as they find their mates. It was fucking ridiculous." I say shaking my as we walk inside. We continue to walk towards the living room and sit down all together on the couch. It's a little tight but at this moment I don't care.

"After your deemed a freak... you don't get looked at like a normal pack member anymore. Your now the pack punching bag. When Cora would come around she would see how much I wasn't eating and how hurt I was. She would help patch me up." They both look angry.

"Anyway, let's talk about your family's. I mean I'm not exactly ready to meet them yet but when I do it would probably be better for me to know some stuff about them." Nat nods and moves even closer to me which I didn't know was even possible

"Well, you know my dads Italian and my moms Spanish. They both moved here when they were mid twenties after my dad met my mom during an alpha meeting that was held in Spain. They claimed some empty territory that was here and left both their territories to their betas." Natalie grabs my hands and starts rubbing my knuckles with her thumb.

I feel her finger rub across the half moon scars that are on the palm of my hand. Nat looks up and I just shake my head indicating that I don't want to talk about it. 

"... my mom is someone that scares everyone. The only person that can control her is my father but when he pisses her off... we're all screwed." Nat chuckles at the end.

"Im sure it's the same for you and Nat. Just in the office today, i saw how you both leaned on each other when one got frustrated. It was cute." I say smiling, they both look at me cautiously.

"Relax, it doesn't bother me that much. What bothers me is... talking about sex and seeing people kissing and groping each other. I'm not ready for that yet." I whisper the last part doing my best to not remember those memories. I don't know why they bother me that much. It was a long time ago I should be able to get over it.

"Anyway, Rose what about your family? I mean if you don't want to tell me you don't have to it's fine-

"It's ok. My mom died when I was 2, luckily my dad got a second chance mate. The only difference is that my dads second chance mate it a guy. My other dad." Rose looks at me to see how I would react to the news.

"You have 2 dads? That so cool!" I practically squeal causing both of my mates to laugh.

"Anyways, I grew up happy in the pack that used to be next to this one. When I met Natalie we decided that it would be easier to merge the packs together instead of moving from pack to pack." I nod understanding completely.

"I don't know why that reminded me but can we go to the pharmacy today? I need to pick up this thing that I was wanted to pick up yesterday..."

"Yeah of course we can go after we eat dinner?"

"Yeah that would be good."

We're currently walking towards the pharmacy to pick up my pills. I need 2 different types of pills that I couldn't get from home.

"Um, can you guys wait out here please?" I ask as we walk up to the pharmacy doors.

".... Sure? But what are you getting from here." Rose asks pulling out $40 and handing it to me.

"Just some... stuff..." they both hesitantly nod and I walk into the pharmacy.

After speaking with the pharmacist, she said that I could only give me once set of pills which  I'm honestly scared for. Don't get me wrong I'm glad I could get me anti depressants but without the contraception pills, I'm going to have to have my period and that terrifies me.

"Hey, so did you get what you needed?" Nat asks and I shook my head sadly.

"Aww, what didn't you get?" Rose asks coming up to me and grabbing my hand.

"... I... can we just talk about this at home please?" They nod and we walk back home talking about nothing yet everything.

"So, you gonna tell us what you got?" Rose asks plopping down onto their bed.

"I got something that I rather not talk about right now but I'm glad I got it. The thing I wasn't able to get was... I'm on birth control... before you start thinking something it's not that. I get really bad cramps when I'm on my period so the doctor told me to go onto the pill. I've been on it for years but because I left my package at my old home I can't get another until next month. Which means..." I don't even finish the sentence and there's a shiver that goes down my spine remembering how painful those cramps are.

"Which means you have to have your period."
