ANGEL AND SOUL
BY EMILY
I was so close to getting myself caught by Ms. Jane, our school nurse slash my rescue guild coordinator on secretly switching the old broken thermometer into a new one. It was the one Amethyst gave to me weeks ago and thank God, I still remember all the stealth moves Austin has taught me. But that still does not cover up the fact that he's the reason why I got into that mess. At ang mas masaklap pa doon ay hindi sila nakapasa sa chemistry despite all of my support.
Since half of the students in my class didn't pass the previous chemistry lab test we did, we now have to participate in the angel & soul study group which means that I'll be teaching some dumb kid with chemistry today.
Unfortunately, it's gonna be held in the library located in the next building which will give me more time to be late. Worse case scenario, Mrs. Cordero will scold me in front of my Angel & Soul buddies in our first meeting.
No thanks, to my stupid best friend!
Catching my breath, my shoes squeaking through the waxed floor and my things rattling inside my backpack; I was the only one making echoes through the empty halls because the other kids already left home after school.
I arrived outside the library and made sure to peek through the windows to assess Mrs. Cordero's mood. Luckily, she was neutral which was a good sign. I saw a few familiar faces from my class and most of them were already paired up in a disorderly fashion. Of course, Malcom and Amethyst were already sitting next to each other at a table for the study.
"Please Mrs. Cordero, can I partner up with Monzon?" Austin nagged about how he ended up being paired with a student from another section. Which also made me confused because I thought that this "Angel and Soul thingy" only involves our class.
"Mr. Beltran, go back to your seat. You can't partner up with Monzon because the two of you will distract the whole study. You two are a handful to pair up." Sambit ni Mrs. Cordero while checking our attendance on her desk.
