Tsukie's POV

There is always that saying... when there is so much good that is happening in life, the bad will always poke its head out. I always thought that was a stupid saying because my life has never been bad. Of course, there were some low moments like this time last year, but never...

I'm not sure what, actually.

I stood on our front porch in the late spring air staring at the cars waiting to dispatch us to missions with the sickening feeling that something terrible was going to happen today, but I couldn't pinpoint what it was. It could be nothing. I mean, it's been a year since we fought. Kyojuro and I celebrated our 21st birthdays with our friends just a few weeks ago, and both business and demon slayers were going well. Our first mission with the boys went exceedingly well.

"What's wrong, my flame?" Kyojuro's voice broke the silence.

"Oh nothing, dear, I was just thinking," I said, smiling at him.

We smiled at each other, and the noise of the bickering of the three boys gained our attention.

"Good Afternoon Ms. Kajiura, Mr. Rengoku. Any news on where Lady Tamayo is?" Tanjiro asked. We had been looking for the whereabouts of the demon we work closely with but couldn't find her or her assistant. It wasn't weird when we couldn't find them, but since they travel the world a lot, it was hard to pinpoint their location.

"Not yet, Tanjiro, but once we hear from her or Yushiro, we'll let you know so that they can help your sister," Kyojuro said, and my heart swelled. He had grown close to Tanjiro over the training and missions to the point that he saw Tanjiro as a little brother.

Tanjiro left, and that feeling was creeping back up again.

"Tsukie? What's wrong?" Kyojuro asked, and I shook the feeling off.

"Really, nothing. I'm just lost in thought. Please be careful tonight with the boys. Call for backup if you need it. I'm not sure who's going to be close to you three tonight since everyone seems to be on missions as well." Which was odd. We never scheduled all the Hashira on a mission in case anyone needed backup. "Anyway, please be careful," I breathed before he leaned in for a kiss.

"It's just a train station, quick sweep. You know, only low-level demons frequent places like that. There's nothing to worry about," he said, smiling and giving me another kiss. "You be careful as well with the festival with Sanemi tonight. Those are usually the hotspot for demons."

I knew he was right, but...

"I love you shining sun, so much," I said, tucking myself in his arms, wanting that warmth from him.

"And I love you, my beautiful moon. I'll see you when we get back," he said as we entered the different vehicles. Checking my phone on our locations tonight, it looked like I was going to be 4 hours away from them and even more hours from everyone else.

Something isn't right...

We made it to Gujo just in time before the sunset. Walking through the blocked-off streets for the lively festivities brought a smile to my face. However, the few demon slayers following Sanemi and I was a little too much. It felt like Kyojuro's guards surrounded me if we had to attend to any Yakuza business. I stopped walking, looking behind me at the young faces.

"Scatter for patrol. If you see anything amiss or sense a demon, either take care of it or come get one of us, alright?" I asked before they all nodded and dispersed.

"I hate having shadows. It's like having Genya following me around everywhere," Sanemi said, looking around the different vendors.

"Has his training gotten any better?" I asked, stopping at a vendor selling sweets.
