Kyojuro's POV

Me and the kids were eating dinner on the platform while the sun was setting. It felt like it was going to be a late night of boredom for the kids. Train stations were usually quiet at night and crawling with either a low number of demons to none at all. This would be a perfect time for training, though, so it wasn't too bad.

"Mr. Rengoku, that was your 6th bento. Won't you get sick?" Tanjiro asked, and I couldn't help but smile.

"Don't worry about me, Young Kamado. As my fiancé says, I can be a bottomless pit sometimes," I said happily, thinking of Tsukie.

"Where are the demons! I'm ready to kill something," Inosuke growled.

"They may or may not come out. Train stations are odd like that sometimes. However, the source said that a few higher-level demons were snooping around. So stay sharp," I said, throwing away another bento box.

"What are those weird things?" Inosuke grumbled out, pointing at the large lights above the tracks.

"They're called Sun Lights. Someone from the demon slayers in America created them. It helps local areas like train stations avoid major demon attacks. The switch is right over there," I said, pointing to a red button on a wall near the tracks. "Wish we could put them in many other places, but it's hard to find the light bulbs."

The night went on, and everything was quiet—nothing new regarding missions like these. I was about to call everything off when a sizeable spider-like demon came crawling down the track, and I could see that it was one of the Kizuki, but at least it was a lower one. Bystanders were running in terror, and I noticed a few more grotesque demons making their way to the humans.

"Th-there's too many we need to flip the switch," Zenitsu yelled.

"No! That is only for emergencies," I yelled back.

"This is an emergency! We're going to die!"

Rolling my eyes, I examined the situation quickly before looking at the kids in front of me. They could handle this. If they could take down number 12, they could take down number 7.

"Tanjiro, you and Inosuke take care of the demon on the track. Zenitsu, and Nezuko, help the civilians to safety and make sure to keep everyone safe. I'll handle the rest of the demons coming our way," I commanded.

As we all darted away, I noticed a few demons trying to herd the people into a circle, but Nezuko was able to back them away before Zenitsu slayed them with a girlish scream. Yeah, nice work there with the confidence Tengen. I made it to the other demons and slayed them without any effort, really.

After slaying the last of them, I felt very uneasy, like something wasn't right. I turned to an empty station, and Inosuke was pumping his fist in the air, but not from victory. I ran over to see Tanjiro lying on his back with his uniform cut open at his side and blood slowly pooling there.

"Focus on your breathing Tanjiro. Remember what I've taught you about total concentration. Close your eyes and focus on where the bleeding is and try to stop it or at least slow it down," I said, crouching next to my student.

Of course, those two took down the demon together, Tsukie and I did a great job training them, and they work so well together as well.

Just as I was about to pick him up to get help, a strong presence bared down on us hard. I turned to see down the tracks and noticed a demon crouching. I knew exactly who it was.

Fuck.

Fuck.

Fuck!

I didn't have time to reach in my phone to call anyone for backup before his fist was right in front of Tanjiro's face. Acting fast, I drew my sword, Flame Breathing, Second From: Rising Scorching Sun. He jumped back, his arm healing in a blink of an eye.
