Kyojuro's POV

Tsukie left to finish her day, and Sanemi stopped by to take the women and little boy to a local shelter. He eyed the blood on the floor and then at me, not asking any questions. I spent the rest of my day with my father, which was unplanned, but it helped the day go by fast. Entering the house, my mother was there instantly to greet my father with kisses and gentle touches, and my brother greeted me with a smile on his face.

"How was school, Senjuro?" I asked, ruffling his hair.

"Good, but I want to learn the trade like you and father." He said, and the gleam in his eye made my heart hurt. He was too innocent to be in this world of ours.

"I don't know, Senjuro. I don't want that smile of yours to fade like mine," I said, kneeling to meet his eyes.

"What are you talking about? You smile, you smile a lot more when Tsukie is around," he said, and I let out a laugh.

"Brat."

"Jerk."

Sadly because of the time we got home, I had to take my meal to my room. I sighed, looking at my food, feeling lonely. Then, just as I was about to discard my food and call it a night, a video call came over with her name on it.

"Well, good evening, baby," I said as Tsukie's beautiful face came into view as she was in her yoga outfit stretching on her shoulder.

"Hey, I called to check on you. You looked pretty upset after I left, and I feel bad for not contacting you sooner," she said, bending herself in half rest on her elbows, trying to put pressure on her shoulder but causing me to blush.

"I was better when you were there. I just hate when stuff like that happens. I mean, we have requirements for a reason. When women and children get involved, it just sets me off. I'm sorry again for interrupting your busy day," I said, watching her lifting her feet from the ground and over her head, trying to touch her forehead with her toes.

"I meant what I said Kyo, you always have time in my schedule," she said with a slightly pained look on her face.

"Baby, don't strain yourself," I said as she slowly lifted her elbows off the ground. The pained look got more intense, and I saw her elbow lock up.

"Son of a bitch" she said, hitting the ground. "I hate this. I feel so useless!"

"Next time, don't go on a mission drunk," I said, laughing and starting to eat some of my dinner.

"Ok, first of all, I was buzzed, and second..." she trailed off, looking at the screen.

"I know, I know," I said in between bites. "I was happy to see you today. I know the environment was not ideal, but it was nice."

She smiled, getting up and trying more positions. This was the perfect chance to ask her out, but I couldn't get the words out. I've never asked a girl on a date before, and I wouldn't count those girls I brought home because there was no feeling behind it. Just a 'hey, let's go.'

"Is something else on your mind?" She asked, looking at my face and out of my thoughts.

"What are you doing tomorrow night?" I asked without a thought. A blush started in her chest and made its way up her neck.

"Uh-um n-nothing," she said, stuttering knowing I caught her off guard.

"Can I take you out on a date? Like our first date?" I asked, grinning, hoping she would say yes.

She just stared at the screen, and I couldn't help but smile. She was definitely caught off guard because she only goes silent when she doesn't know what to say, which is rare for her.

"Yep," she squeaked out, and I chuckled at how cute she was. She got out of her current position and covered her face. She looked up with a smile plastered over her face with a lovely shade of blush.

"I can still see you, baby," I said, taking in another bite of food. Her eyes widened as she kicked her phone so that I was staring at the ceiling, causing a loud laugh to escape my mouth. "Let me get everything set up, and I'll pick you up tomorrow. Goodnight, beautiful."

"Goodnight, Kyo," she managed to get out before hanging up. I got up quickly, knowing I had time before my brother went to sleep, so I sprinted to his room.

Knocking on his door, he slowly opened it looking at me worried. "Is everything alright, brother?"

"I need your help with something," I said as he smiled up at me.

I couldn't sleep the whole night, too anxious about the date. Will she like it? It is too corny? Should I bring her flowers? A necklace? Is a necklace too soon? Is she excited? She seemed excited over the phone. Walking to breakfast, I must have been preoccupied with my thoughts that I ran into one of the chairs toppling over with it.

"Oh my, Kyojuro, are you alright?" My mother asked, leaving her breakfast to come over to me.

"Yes, mother," I said, getting up and setting the chair back as I saw my father and brother laugh at each other, or more like at me.

"What's on your mind, son?" She asked, and I couldn't help the blush growing on my face, so I looked away, covering my face.

"He asked Tsukie out on a date tonight!" Senjuro yelled across that room.

"Son, that's wonderful to hear!" My father said, going back to his newspaper.

"Where are you taking her?" My mother asked, smiling but giddy herself.

"It's a surprise, only Senjuro and I know," I said, holding my finger up to silence my brother before he yelled out.

"Just don't forget the condoms," my father said, and this time my face got hot with embarrassment.

"Father!"

"Shinjuro! Not in front of Senjuro!"

I texted Tsukie good morning, and she texted back almost immediately, telling me good morning. She wasn't going to forget today. I wasn't going to let her.

Me: I'm excited to see you tonight.

Tsukie: Is there a dress code? What are we doing?

Me: Can't tell you, it will ruin the surprise, and no, sweetheart, there is no dress code required.

Tsukie: So, my birthday suit is ok?

My eyes grew wide at her boldness before the following text came over.

Tsukie: I'm kidding, Kyo lol

The rest of the day was like a blur to me. I was so focused on tonight that one of the members asked if I was ok during a meeting.

Rushing home, I grabbed the pouch that Senjuro made and left for her house. My heart was racing from nerves and anticipation. Pulling up to her house getting out with the single rose I had. Knocking on the door, it opened to her mother's amber eyes, causing me to jump.

"Ah, if it isn't Kyojuro, what are you doing here?" She asked sweetly which I couldn't tell what mood she was in.

"I-Uh. I've come to take Tsukie on a date," I said sheepishly.

"Mama, leave him alone. You've scared him enough already," I heard Tsukie's sweet voice as she came into view. My mouth came open slightly, looking at her. She was beautiful, and she made it look so effortless. She has a long cardigan, white crop top, black ripped skinny jeans, and grey ankle boots. So causal, yet, perfect on her.

"You look beautiful," I said as her father came into view.

"Oh, why thank you, I've been trying a new conditioner for my hair," her father said, mimicking the females in the family. I couldn't help but chuckle at him as the girls laughed.

"Bye Mama, Bye Papa," she said, walking towards me. I handed her the rose, smiling before placing my hand on the curve of her back.

"Please be safe, you two!" Her father yelled as I looked overseeing her red face of embarrassment.

"I'll wear my seatbelt," she yelled back.

"Not what I mean," he said, causing my face to go red.

"Tsukiya," we heard Tsukie's mother say before closing the door.
