THE KINGDOM OF DESIRE
Their plan had succeeded.
Desire and Despair watched in pleasant joy as the Corinthian walked away from the Dreaming, his home for nearly a 1000 years.
He never did look back, that was for sure.
All the time, he had seen Dream as a father figure, the one he had never met.
For he was just an illusion, a silly puppet, a creation embodying a Nightmare.
All these years, he had relied on Dream, his master, to be him a good son, a good puppet. He had loved him, like a son usually did, never questioned his existence being a total fake.
He had thought of him loving him back, had thought that he understood how he felt.
He had been wrong, about nearly everything.
Because his existence was a fake, always had been.
Dream had created him, invented him to serve, to embody humanitys' worst ever fears - the fear of being hated, of being cast out.
Of being misunderstood.
He had never been a son to him, he had never loved him.
Dream was like Doctor Frankenstein, a lonely man who brought something to life that didn't really exist, filling the solitude inside his heart.
Something that was cast out, had never been human at all.
Something that was hated, misunderstood.
And that something was himself.
This thought soon made the Corinthian very sad, not knowing what to do.
He wanted to prove himself to his master, worth being a human and not just a worthless creation.
He wanted to make him proud, to finally be understood.
Was that really too much to ask for?
But all of a sudden, rage swelled inside of him.
Rage which slowly turned into hatred and hatred turning into malice.
