CW: Mentions of the KKK, murder, racism

Tuesday, January 23rd

"Hey Griffin, can you go sit with Gwen and her friends today?" Vance asked the 6th grader.

He looked irritated, "Why do you guys always send me off? Are you too embarrassed?"

Billy tried to reassure him, "No, of course not. He probably just needs to talk about something with the rest of us that you can't hear."

"Why not?" He crossed his arms.

"Because it's a mature topic. You'll understand it when you get older."

"You guys are acting like you're my mom."

"Well, then do as they say. Go sit with my sister and her friends."

"Fine, at least she's honest with me."

He walked off to the three girls. Because Bruce had been transferred, so had Amy. And Finney just realized how close Griffin was to them. Especially his sister. Actually, he's gonna visit that topic again later.

"Why'd you send him off?"

Vance sighed, anxiety in his face. "Do you guys remember Calvin Kennedy?"

"The guy who murdered your mom?" Bruce asked, popping a grape in his mouth.

"The guy we 'jumped' but not really." Robin said.

"Well anyway, because we gave Kellen's old Klux patch to the cops, they might be investigating their family."

Realization hit Billy, "Which means that they'll interrogate Calvin..."

"And I could get in trouble for threatening him with a gun." Donna said, eyes sunken with worry. "I should've never done that. It was so impulsive of me. I'm sorry." She put her head in her hands. And she soon started to cry.

Finney comforted her by putting his arm around her shoulder.

"You were only trying to honor my mom's name. I don't blame you for that at all. In fact, I respect you for it." Vance said.

"Will the cops respect me when they show up to my house?" She remarked.

"That's why I told you. I didn't want your parents to freak out on you when they found out you stole a gun and threatened someone with it."

"I mean to be fair," Bruce trailed off, "How bad is a punishment for bringing a gun and threatening with it and she said it was empty the entire time. No one could've been harmed."

"No but she could be charged with a misdemeanor and maybe even a conviction resulting in a fine, jail time up to 364 days, or both." Billy pointed out, finger on his chin.

That fact did not help her at all. And made her emotions worse.

Finney then said something else, "I'm sorry but isn't this guy a complete drunk? And from what I remember, he could barely stand on his own two feet!"

"Hopefully he blacked out after that." Robin said, shaking his head.

"And pray that if and when we see him again, his memory won't be jogged," Billy said.

"Just don't bring a gun again, Donna." Vance teased her, chuckling.

"I won't!" Her voice croaked from crying. She took it more seriously than he did.

"We just pray he blacked out after that. And doesn't remember." Bruce nodded his head.

"Right, let's bring Griffin back."
