Jimin was bored. But he usually was bored when they weren't in the middle of their morning rush. Or his favorite co-worker, now best friend also roommate wasn't working the same shift as him. That was life as a barista though.
So here Jimin sat behind the counter with his chin pressed into his hand that was holding his head up from slamming it into the counter out of sheer boredom just for something to do when he heard the bell above the door jingle alerting him to a customer's entry. Jimin, again from sheer boredom, stood upright delighted to have something to do and looked up at the customer that entered and promptly choked on his spit because this was the most beautiful specimen of a human being that Jimin had ever laid eyes on came to a stop in front of him.
"Um, hi." The man said looking at Jimin unsurely.
Jimin couldn't blame him because he knew he was staring, maybe even possibly drooling. Jimin cleared his throat.
"Hi, welcome to rkive. What can I get for you today?" Jimin asked in his best customer service voice, pairing it with a smile.
"Not sure to be honest." The man spoke softly his big doe eyes looking up at the menu located above Jimin's head.
Jimin felt himself practically melt at how endearing the man looked with his big eyes as they perused the menu. Jimin bit into his bottom lip so as not to squeal out loud when he had an idea.
"I think I know just what you need." Jimin said which caused the stranger to pull his eyes from the menu to meet his.
Jimin watched a thoughtful look flit across his face before one side of his lips quirked up and a small, crooked smile appeared on his lips.
"Okay."
Jimin grinned and promptly twirled from the register to get to work. Jimin had been a barista for going on three years now and prided himself on making just what someone wanted when they didn't know what it was, they wanted. Jimin prayed to whatever deity ruled over coffee that once again he was correct. He continued to do so as he turned back around holding a cup and sat it gingerly onto the counter. The man looked at the cup and then up to Jimin. Jimin smiled giving an encouraging nod towards the cup. Jimin watched with anticipation as he picked the cup up and took a sip.
"Matcha latte." The man beamed from behind his cup.
Jimin's heart flip flopped around in his chest, and he had to do everything he could not to coo at the man whose smile turned him into a bunny. A hot, pierced, and oh my god are those tattoos bunny. But a bunny, nonetheless.
"I take it you like it?" Jimin asked wanting explicit confirmation and another smile out of the man.
"It's one of my favorites." The man smiled again.
"Really?" Jimin asked somewhat skeptically. "You're not just saying that?"
Jimin watched the man shake his head no.
"Honest to God. Along with a c-"
"NO!" Jimin practically shouted startling the man to the point that his eyes went bigger than he thought possible. "I, uh, don't want to know." Jimin could feel his cheeks burn as the man tilted his head in confusion. "I, um, want to guess again."
Jimin wanted to die. He was completely and utterly embarrassed and was getting ready to pretend that he heard his name being called by Namjoon from the back to escape when he heard a chuckle from in front of him. Jimin looked up (when did he even look down, he wondered) and watched the man's nose scrunch up which convinced Jimin that he was the most adorable person (as well as hot he will never abandon that description of him) he'd ever met which he didn't think was possible given his best friend was the embodiment of sunshine.
"Okay."
Jimin smiled delighted, "okay."
"Oh, how much?"
Jimin shook his head emphatically, "no, it's on the house."
"Are you sure? I don't want you to get in trouble."
"Nope it's fine, promise." Jimin smiled again.
"All right, but just this once." The man smiled.
"Just this once." Jimin agreed.
"I should get going. But thanks again Jimin."
Jimin's brain short circuited at the fact that this gorgeous man knew his name until he realized that he was wearing a name tag which turned into mortification. Yep, let it be known that Jimin would have been completely okay if the ground opened beneath his feet and swallowed him whole. Regardless Jimin was determined to know this beautiful man's name.
"You're welcome matcha latte." Jimin grinned.
"Matcha latte?" The man questioned.
"What I will call you unless I have a name to replace it." Jimin said as nonchalantly as he could.
The man grinned, "Jungkook."
"Well then. You're welcome Jungkook." Jimin spoke as he watched Jungkook start to walk backwards towards the door.
"See you around Jimin."
"Yeah." Jimin breathed out as he watched Jungkook disappear through the door.
"That was painful to watch."
Jimin whipped his head to his left and groaned flopping down across the counter dramatically like the dramatic person he is.
"Please just kill me. Please." Jimin begged Namjoon.
"And miss another opportunity to watch the great Park Jimin flounder like that? Not a chance."
"This is employee abuse." Jimin bemoaned.
Namjoon laughed out loud before his features settled into a dimpled smile.
"Tell you what, next time he comes in I'll take his order."
"You will do no such thing if you want your plants to survive next week." Jimin spoke assuredly as he stood up straight and fixed his rkive apron.
"You wouldn't dare." Namjoon uncrossed his arms.
Jimin gave him one of his charming smiles, "try me."
"And you accuse me of employee abuse." Namjoon mumbled before turning back into his office.
Jimin chuckled and got back to work no longer bored having a man that looks like a bunny when he smiles named Jungkook to think about as he did.
