Taehyung looked up from his laptop when he heard the lock in his and Jungkook's front door turn. He scrambled up from his spot on the floor at the coffee table, smile at the ready to greet Jimin. But when Jungkook walked through the door and promptly closed it, his smile fell.
"Where's Jimin?"
Jungkook looked at Taehyung standing behind the coffee table in his pajamas and shook his head.
"What? No!" Taehyung complained with a whine.
Before Jungkook had a chance to clarify that Jimin was still coming but later, Taehyung was pocketing his wallet and pulling on his shoes.
"What are you doing?"
"Kidnapping Jimin."
Jungkook laughed.
"That's a bit unnecessary, don't you think?"
Taehyung looked at Jungkook in disbelief and shook his head. "And you call yourself his best friend."
Jungkook shook his own head with a grin.
"Go sit your dramatic ass down. He's still working but will be over right after."
"Oh, well, in that case." Taehyung slipped out of his shoes and tossed his wallet back on the table. "What movies do you want to watch tonight?"
"And just like that, he's back to normal." Jungkook snickered, slipping out of his own shoes.
"Whatever." Taehyung ignored Jungkook's jab, used to his teasing after over a decade of friendship. "You're just jealous that I don't greet you as enthusiastically as I do him."
"Sure," Jungkook snorted, walking into the kitchen and opening the fridge to grab water.
Jungkook closed the fridge door and looked at the pictures plastered all over it. Most were of just Taehyung and him through the years, but some were of Jimin and him, Taehyung and Jimin, the three of them together, and even a few with Seokjin, Namjoon, and Hoseok. Jungkook tipped the bottle of water to his lips and drank, his eyes fixed on a particular picture placed at eye level on the freezer door. It was a photo of Jimin alone, one that Taehyung had taken for a school project, in which Jimin had acted as Taehyung's model for the first time of many. Taehyung had somehow convinced Jimin to dye his hair bubblegum pink for the shoot, which Jungkook thought was crazy of Jimin to agree to, given that he had only just met Taehyung that week. The photo was a sequence of shots of Jimin with his bubblegum pink hair, his hand raised up and reaching out as if beckoning you to take it, the sequence ending as if you were holding it. It was his favorite photo Taehyung had ever taken of Jimin.
"One of my favorites," Taehyung said next to him. Jungkook didn't startle, used to Taehyung materializing silently beside him. "I still can't believe he let me dye his hair pink."
"Me neither," Jungkook chuckled. "You were very adamant about it, to be fair."
"And it paid off. The photos came out stunning." Taehyung glanced at Jungkook, who was still staring at the photo. "Jimin was stunning that day."
"Mmhmm." Jungkook hummed in agreement.
Taehyung pursed his lips to keep from smacking his best friend upside the head. He really didn't understand how Jungkook didn't see it. His feelings for Jimin. Granted, he knew that Jungkook had absolutely zero dating experience in any way, shape, or form, other than knowing he preferred guys, but still. How do you not recognize that you like someone? Or that someone likes you? Taehyung knew that Jimin had a thing for his best friend. It was painfully obvious. Jungkook was the only one who hadn't caught on.
A knock sounded at their front door, interrupting Taehyung. His smile came back wide and in place just as it had been when Jungkook got home, and it was still there as he swung the front door open wide.
