Jungkook looked up from his laptop when he heard Jimin laughing, his lips automatically curving into a smile at the sound. His smile didn't last long, turning into a scowl when he spotted the cause of it: Yoongi. Yoongi bothered Jungkook, especially with how blatantly he flirted with Jimin, one of his best friends.
Jungkook's eyes narrowed as he watched Yoongi sit up from his stool and lean forward on his elbows, wearing that stupid grin he only seemed to wear when talking to Jimin, and say something that made Jimin throw his head back in laughter. Jungkook scoffed, but immediately grimaced in pain and looked down at his hand, now bleeding, the remnants of his pencil snapped in half.
"Fuck!" Jungkook let out as he stood up from his seat, the chair scraping against the floor.
"What's wrong?" Jimin's voice asked from in front of him, and Jungkook looked up to see Jimin standing there, no longer behind the counter.
Jungkook was about to say nothing when Jimin noticed his hand was bleeding and immediately reached out for it, taking it into his own and examining it.
"Jungkook, what the hell happened?" Jimin asked, his concerned eyes finding Jungkook's.
"I must have pressed down on the pencil too hard."
That had to be the reason, right? What other reason could there be? Jungkook thought as Jimin led him with his injured hand from around the table toward the main counter without a word. Jungkook's eyes were trained on Jimin's hand, gingerly wrapped around his own, careful of the cut in the middle of his palm where a few dots of blood were still blooming. Were Jimin's hands always this small, or were his always this big? Jungkook wondered while he was pulled behind the main counter.
"You okay there, Jungkook?"
Jungkook looked up to see Yoongi leaning forward, peering at Jungkook's hand, still gripped in Jimin's, as they walked past him.
"Oh, yeah, just, stupid pencil broke is all," Jungkook explained with a shrug.
Yoongi's eyebrows raised slightly and a smirk appeared on his lips. "Wonder how that happened?"
Jungkook was a little confused by his statement but didn't have time to dwell on it, as he was pulled into Namjoon's office.
"Namjoon, go watch the front while I clean up Jungkook's hand."
Jungkook had to hold back a laugh at the look on Namjoon's face when Jimin told him to go out front.
"Sometimes I wonder who owns this place," Namjoon sighed, tossing his pen down and getting up from his desk.
Jimin ignored Namjoon's comment and walked into the employee lounge, a room Jungkook had only been in a few times. It was a nice setup, as far as he was concerned.
As soon as you walked through the door, there was a kitchenette on your left that blended into the open lockers taking up the left wall. The wall directly across from the entrance had built-in seating lined with throw pillows for comfort, running the length of it until it stopped at the bathroom door, which was a full bathroom with a shower stall. The last wall on the right was filled with books from floor to ceiling. There were other little things around the lounge, like a coat rack, artwork hung here and there, and potted plants. If Jungkook had to choose a single word to describe the space, he would choose homey.
"Sit." Jimin instructed once they were in the bathroom.
"Yes, sir," Jungkook teased as he sat on the toilet lid.
Jimin gave him a pointed look. "Don't you sir me."
Jungkook grinned and Jimin rolled his eyes with a tsk. He decided not to tease Jimin further, even though it was one of his favorite things to do. It was something he had discovered early in their friendship.
