"Have you heard from Harry since they left on their 'break'?" Kate asked Eleanor during the dinner celebration Elizabeth and Philip's anniversary using quotation marks when she said the word break.
"Nope," Eleanor shook her head. "But James cut off their access to the account that holds the money from both the sovereign grant and The Duchy of Cornwall money. Ever since the whole issue with Doria and Meghan stealing money, we've been very tight with them."
"We haven't heard from him either," Kate said. "I'm kind of worried about him and Archie. He's getting isolated in another country without anyone he knows that he can turn to. He's cut off all his friends, Skippy hasn't heard from him since Archie's birth."
"He's being manipulated and I'm afraid to what length she's going to push him to," Eleanor said. "He feels as though he's being pushed into a corner and that's not our intention. Especially after the interview."
"It has really backlashed on them hasn't it?" Kate asked. "The public, the press, and even some of the family members as well."
"Well, they did somehow turn a documentary about Africa and educating people about their culture into themselves, so I would say that yes, the people are turning on them," Eleanor said.
"What are you girls discussing so seriously right now that both of you are frowning," Philip jumped into their conversation. Kate and Eleanor were actually sitting next to the window away from everyone else as they have this discussing because it is a known topic to bring everyone down.
Harry and Meghan's relationship with The Queen and the rest of the family has been rocky ever since they announced their pregnancy to the family during Eugenie's wedding reception and to the world a few days after.
"We're talking about your favourite grandson," Eleanor joked. Harry's relationship with Philip has been rocky as well, they've actually been really close with Harry always going to Philip and Elizabeth whenever he needs advice and when he did a terrible decision or did something bad, it was always Philip who calmed Elizabeth down, always saying, "Let the boy make bad choices, Lilibet. It's the only way he's going to learn from his mistakes."
Therefore, it hit Philip harder, especially when Philip tried giving Harry advice only for him to ignore Philip.
"James, your wife has been talking shit about you," Philip jokingly called out.
"Not that grandson, Philip," Eleanor laughed.
"Well, all my grandsons are in this room and as you can tell, my favourite is your husband dear Ellie," Philip smiled painfully. It was an obvious dig at Harry since he is busy being in Canada and being with his new celebrity friends to spend his ageing grandparents' anniversary with them.
Eleanor smiled knowingly to Kate before changing the subject to what Philip has been doing with all his spare time now and how excited he is that Elizabeth will be joining him soon in retirement.
Eleanor left Kate and Philip talking before walking over to her husband and brother-in-law.
They spent the day there with the rest of the family, just basically doing what a normal family does during an anniversary dinner of their grandparents.
They knew not to bring up certain topics such as Harry and Meghan as well as the Epstein case with Andrew. Those topics were swept under the rug and ignored for the night.
Eleanor asked Beatrice about her wedding and how excited she is to be married to Edo and basically just jumping into the married life circle.
The atmosphere was lively but they all knew that they were sad deep down and Eleanor could see how deeply affected the family are regarding Harry's sudden departure.
The kids are running all over the place with, each with their own age group.
As they had dinner, Eleanor kept looking over to Elizabeth and Philip to see how they are.
Eleanor can see that while Elizabeth might be smiling, her eyes were missing that usual twinkle of mischief that is usually present during gatherings like these.
"How are you feeling Elizabeth," Eleanor asked Elizabeth after the dinner as everyone is sitting around the couch, just relaxing.
"Tired," Elizabeth smiled slightly. "I hate how my grandson is being brainwashed by someone he was supposed to call his wife."
"You'll get your rest soon," Eleanor smiled slightly. "You only have three more months before you can finally retire and rest. As you should, you're 92 years old, and you're still standing,"
"Heavy is the head that wears the crown," Elizabeth mutters. "Promise me that you'll restore this family as it was before."
"I will do my best," Eleanor held Elizabeth's hands, squeezing tightly. "Now let's join the rest of the family, I think they're looking for us."
With that, the two of them joined the rest of the family.
