The rest of the week went by with still no word from Mikey's parents, no one was worried though they all thought they were just enjoying the time away.
Friday morning the girls awoke to the sound of Martha and her husband Ray popping balloons above Ari's bed where the girls slept.
Pop! Pop! Pop!
"Happy Birthday girls!" Ari's parents said staring down at the girls with large grins plastered to their faces.
"What!?" The girls said in unison as they jumped out of bed into a fighting position, calming as they realized what was happening. "Awe thanks mum! And dad of course! You guys are the best!" Ari exclaimed, as she ran up to her parents to give each of them a hug.
"Yes thank you so much guys, you didn't have to do this." Mikey said feeling very grateful for this lovely couple that treated her like a daughter.
"Oh but we wanted to, you two girls are very important to us." Martha said giving each girl a hug in turn.
"Awe thank you!" They said together hugging Martha back.
As soon as they let go Martha and Ray both handed the girls presents and step back to watch them open them.
Ari wasted no time as she hurriedly ripped open her present.
"Oh mum, dad! Thank you so much!" She said looking wide eyed at her present. In Ari's hands was a photo album with a picture of her on her birthday for the past seventeen years. Every photo happened to have Mikey in it to, which is understandable because they've been friends all their lives. Next to every photo was a nice crisp one hundred dollar bill with a note beside it from her parents."This is so awesome! I am so happy right now!" Ari almost screamed as she hugged both her parents almost knocking her mum down.
"You guys are way too sweet you didn't have to get me anything." Mikey said. They were already giving her a gift by letting her stay in there home free of charge.
"Oh we know dear but you are so much like a daughter to us that we would feel absolutely horrible if we hadn't." Martha said before pointing at the present in Mikey's arm indicating that she wanted her to open it.
"Well thank you very much guys I really appreciate it. Wow! Its a camo forty five ACP! I've always wanted one of these! Thank you thank you thank you!" Mikey exclaimed jumping up and down showing how happy this gift had made her.
"You're very welcome my dear, we're very glad you like it." Martha and Ray said laughing at how excited this gift had made her. They then turned around and headed downstairs after telling the girls to hurry and get dressed so they could eat.
"So uh what's an ACP?" Ari asked, knowing absolutely nothing about guns.
"Wow, I'm gonna act like I'm not disappointed in you right now hun and actually answer you. ACP stands for Automatic Colt Pistol." Mikey announced, knowing this was the one difference between them.
"Oh so you got a pistol?" Ari asked not near as impressed as Mikey had seemed to be.
"Yes! Its super awesome! Here look." Mikey shoved the pistol into her friends lap so she could see it.
"Oh wow that's super cool!" Ari said feeling more impressed then before she actually attempted to understand the weapon.
"Girls!?" Martha yelled from downstairs.
"Yes?" They said in unison rushing downstairs after quickly changing out of their pajamas.
"We have another surprise for you but we have to hurry so hurry up and get down here." Martha yelled as the girls rounded the corner wide eyed.
"Another surprise!?" They both asked as they entered the kitchen.
"Yep, well it's actually for Mikey but Ari will like it too." Both girls looked at Martha with a confused look, the look got even worse after Martha said the punch line. "You're going to Las.Vegas!"
..........................................................."We got a call from your parents last night Mikey. They are staying up there for a while longer, but they wanted you to come be with them. They sent the money for the plane tickets last night, it's your birthday present!" Martha explained.
"You said tickets, with an s, Does that mean Ari gets to go with me!?" Mikey asked, suddenly really excited.
Martha laughed, "Yes Mikey, we're going to let Ari go with you. But your plane leaves in a few hours so hurry upstairs and pack enough luggage for a couple weeks." She said with a smile.
"A couple weeks!?" Both girls asked, obvious shock on there faces.
"Yes a couple weeks." Martha said hugging each girl as she led them upstairs to pack knowing they didn't have very much time. After helping the girls pack their luggage into Ari's corvette Martha and Ray waved them off. They were both very proud that they could trust there girls with a trip like this.
