Tommy needed to buy cat litter.

He sighed, pushing through the door into Niki’s with a huff. Ranboo looked up at him from behind the counter, raising an eyebrow at him.

“You good man?”

Tommy groaned, flopping across the counter, making Tubbo snicker from his spot at a booth near them.

“Noooooo,” Tommy whined, looking up with a sad frown at Ranboo. Ranboo just blinked back.

“What happened?” He asked, only sounding half-interested as he prepared the order in front of him. Tommy sighed, moving around to behind the counter, starting on the next order.

“I need to buy litter for my cat.”

Ranboo raised an eyebrow, grinning at him. “You have a cat?”

Tommy nodded, pulling out his phone and pulling up a picture he had took of Clem.

“Yep, this is Clementine. And she needs litter. But I don’t know where you even buy litter.”

Tubbo suddenly appeared on the opposite side of the counter, leaning forwards to look at the photo. “Why don’t you ask your parents to get you some?”

It took almost everything in Tommy not to freeze up. He forced himself to shrug, sliding his phone back into his pocket. “They don’t exactly… know I have a cat?”

Ranboo chuckled, pushing an order across the counter before turning back to them with a grin. “Alright then, we’ll go shopping with you after work! How does that sound?”

Tommy couldn’t help but grin, shooting Tubbo a smile as well. “Sounds pog.”

………………………………

“Why are there so many kinds of fucking cat litter?” Tommy groaned, causing Tubbo to snicker at his side. Ranboo just rolled his eyes, scanning the options in front of them.

Apparently, cat litter could be bought at just about any old store, but the three had opted for their local Target, figuring they had the best stuff. Because Target was classy like that.

“I don’t know, different cats are different,” Ranboo replied, pulling a box off the shelf at random and handing it to Tommy. Tommy raised an eyebrow at him, frowning.

“Ah yes, different cats are different. What wisdom, what great insight. Please, do share all of your knowledge with us.”

Ranboo frowned, turning to shoot Tubbo a disapproving look, as the smaller boy was now on the ground, wheezing with laughter. Tommy giggled, quickly covering the noise with a cough as Ranboo turned to shoot him a glare as well.

“No respect here, I swear,” Ranboo grumbled, picking Tubbo bodily off of the ground and carrying him towards the entrance of the store.

“I would respect you if you were worth my respect,” Tubbo retorted, slouching in his spot in Ranboo’s arms. Ranboo dropped him on the ground.

“Rude.”

Ranboo pointedly ignored him.

Tommy smiled to himself, shifting the litter in his arms before moving to the self checkout, pulling out some cash to pay for it. Suddenly, shots rang through the store, causing Tommy to jump. He dropped the litter, instinctively dropping into a crouch and spinning, taking in the situation before him.

A man was standing at one of the checkout counters, a small handgun pointing at the cashier behind the counter. The girl was shaking, one of her hands firmly pressed over her mouth. She looked like she was about to have a panic attack.
