As the group arrived on the front porch of the Wheeler house Eddie grabbed Leena's hand and pulled her to the side."Go inside, we'll be there in a second." Eddie said.
The group only nodded before walking in. Eddie turned to the confused girl and kissed her. It wasn't like any of their many kisses; this one was almost like a goodbye. Eddie pulled away and softly stroked her cheek. His eyes were watering and his fingertips were shaking.
"Eddie.." Leena said softly as she cupped his cheek.
"I'm scared.. Two days ago I was just a boy in love with a girl. Now I'm a boy wanted for 3 counts of murder who's in love with a girl with superpowers..." Eddie placed his face in the crook of Leena's neck. "I wanted this to be my year.."
The girl's eyes began to water as she placed a kiss on his temple. "Eddie.. look at me." Eddie turned and looked into the girl's deep brown eyes. "I will make this right. No matter what it takes.." Leena whispered.
"I love you Leena Henderson.."
"I love you too, Eddie Munson..."
The two shared another kiss before heading inside. The group turned to the doorway and motioned for the two to come over.
"Look at this, isn't it cool?" Robin said, pointing to the dust floating around the lights.
Eddie's face lit up as he saw the lights. Leena swore he had his little kid moments, but that's what she loves about him. Leena followed Eddie as he walked up to the lights and ran his fingers along the dust and the others did the same.
"It feels...kinda...nice." Robin says with a small smile.
Eddie smiled at the girl before turning to Leena as she watched the group from afar. Eddie smiles at his girlfriend before turning back to the lights. It brought joy to her to see Eddie happy. Especially after everything he's been through in the past 2 days. Leena's eyes started wandering around the room. It was just like her visions: the walls were covered in vines and a mixture of ash and snow floating in the air.
Leena turned to Steve. He looked tired, and the bites on his ribs were leaking through the bandages. His face looked pale and his eyes looked dark and tired. Leena watched as he turned and looked at Nancy with a puppy dog face. Leena knew he was still in love with Nancy, and she kinda felt bad for the guy. Harrington has been one of her closest friends since she arrived a year ago. He was the one that showed her around town and he even introduced her to some of his friends to make her feel more welcome. It was sad seeing the poor guy so hung up on a girl. Leena shook her head to remove her mind from those thoughts.
Leena looked at Robin. She had met Robin through Steve, and the two have been best friends since. Robin helped Leena whenever she and Eddie got into arguments. Robin was her closest friend. Leena knew she could never tell a believable lie to Robin even if she tried. Robin knew her inside and out it wasn't possible.
Leena didn't know Nancy that well. She knew about Harrington's love for her and that's pretty much it. Ever since all this shit started happening has been the only real time they've talked. Before Nancy wouldn't look her way because she hung out with the freaks, but Leena didn't care about titles so she didn't hold the weird side eyes against Nancy.
"I'm gonna take a breather outside.." Leena said as she stood up to walk out the door. Everyone turns to the girl with a confused look on their face. "I just need to take a moment to myself."
Leena opened the door before stepping out. She rubbed her face in frustration before sitting down. She was stressed. She loved her friends and she had to make sure that they were safe. All this weight she has to carry, all the things she's never told any of them started to come into her mind. She felt like a liar. Like she was some kind of wolf in sheep's clothing. Her past isn't something she can reminisce about. She can barely bring herself to even think about it.
