Hidden Secrets

We are no heros

   Eddie kept soothing the girl as she slowly started coming to. The room that was once around the group was now gone and they were surrounded with the field they were originally in. As Leena's eyes finally adjusted Eddie helped her sit up.

    "Are you ok?" He asked as he placed his hand on the back of her head.

    "yeah..." Leena said as she stared at the ground uncomfortable at the fact that everyone now knows her past. As Eddie begins to rub her back he feels a huge lump. He quickly gets to his knees and lifts the back of Leena's shirt exposing the black vine being bigger than before in Eddie's trailer.

    "holy shit.." Eddie said as he clasped a hand over his mouth. Dustin came running over along with the rest of the group to look at the exposed back.

    "What is Eddie?" Leena asked with fear in her voice.

    "nothing.. just proof we need to kill this son of a bitch sooner rather than later." Eddie said as he pulled her shirt back down and climbed to his feet. "Can you stand?"  Leena stiffened  in discomfort as she started climbing to her feet.  Eddie hurried to give her a hand up as she started losing her balance. "Here hop on my back."

    "no... I need to at least build the strength to walk if we're going to kill this bastard." Leena said before taking a few steps away from Eddie to test her balance. Once Leena regained her composure, Eddie joined her side and took her hand. The group walked back to the rv when Eddie grabbed Leena's arm. 

    "about what we saw in there-"

    "don't.." Leena said, cutting off Eddie.

    "no, you need to know that experience doesn't cripple you or make you weak. Leena, those experiences made you stronger. Stronger than any of us. Vecna only wants to increase his chances of winning by throwing you off, and you can't let him win against Leena. You're better than he is. He has nothing and no one to fight for.. you have everything and everyone..." Eddie said. Leena hung her head to the ground for a second before picking it back up.

    "how are you so certain that I'm strong?" Leena said with tears in her eyes. "How can you guys be so goddamn certain to rely on me?"

    "because you've been through hell, Leena. And each and every time you fought through it. You're a fighter...and I trust you with everything I have. I trust you will fight your hardest." Eddie reassured her as he cupped her cheek and smiled.

    "Guys we're all ready to go!" Dustin yelled from the RV.

    "Come on..let's take this asshole down..together.." Eddie said as he stretched a hand out to him. Leena smiled slightly before taking his hand. The two walked to the RV hand in hand as everyone began pilling in. Eddie and Leena sat next to each other as everyone remained silent. During the ride Eddie looks over at Leena only to see one singular tear falling from her face. She was absolutely terrified.

    Once the RV came to a stop Leena and Max stood knowing that they were outside the Creel residence. Eddie quickly got up and followed her outside as well as Steve and Dustin.

    "promise me you'll be safe." Eddie said as he grabbed Leena's hand to stop her from walking. Leena cups Eddie's face in her hand.

    "I'm not going to make a promise I can't keep.." Leena said softly. Eddie stared at Leena before pulling her into his chest.

    When they parted Steve spoke up; "don't try to be hero's. Stay safe. All you need to do is distract him. Me, Nancy, and Robin will kill him." Steve says before pulling Max and Leena in for a hug. Leena looks at Dustin who was staring at the ground. Instead of waiting for her prideful cousin she instead pulled him into a hug. Dustin was confused for a second before finally hugging back. When they parted Steve handed her a walkie-talkie. 

    "Well tell you where we are from this." Steve said as Lucas got out of the RV.

    "what are you doing?" Dustin asked in an annoyed tone.

    "they aren't going to be able to do this and protect themselves. I'll stay to keep them safe." Lucas says. Eddie looks at Steve with worry who only nods in approval. Eddie quickly grabs Lucas's shoulder and pulls him close so he can whisper something to him.

    "keep them safe. If even one starts to do something out of the ordinary, wake them up." Eddie whispers. Lucas looks up at Eddie and only nods. 

    "what's with all the goddamn nodding?" Leena asked in annoyance. Steve lets out a laugh before turning and getting back in the van.

    "be safe, good luck..I love you.." Eddie says before quickly kissing Leena's cheek and getting in the van.

    "I love you too..and be safe. In the wise words of Steve 'the hair' Harrington don't try to be a hero." Leena said with a laugh.

    "oh look at us." Eddie said as he pulled Dustin into his side. "We are no heroes."

    Leena smiles at his comment. "Keep it that way. I need a boyfriend to come home after we kill this son of a bitch."

    "Guess we brought some joy to your face." Eddie said.

    "yes you did now go. We have a gremlin bastard's ass to kick." Leena said before shoving Eddie lightly towards the RV.  Eddie smiled at her before climbing back into the van followed by Dustin. Once the door closed the RV peeled out of the Creel driveway leaving the three teens alone to distract the monster. To save the town.
