CHAPTER SEVENTEEN : EAVESDROPPING

Astra searched for someone to group up with, but all of them looked like they were already teamed up. Frowning, she spotted Izuku by himself and ran towards him. Hopefully he still needed someone else in his team. Izuku spun around his eyes, watering," Astra?"

" Wanna team up?" She'd have to ask him about the rules to.

His eyes shone with hope," Really? Y-you wanna team up!? Y-your f-for r-real?!" Wow, he must be nervous if he's stuttering.

Astra smiled," Of course!! Let's rock this!"

" Ya!" He looked pumped.

" But first," She saw Ochako bounding their way and grabbed his arm, pulling him away and sending Ochako a look," I need to ask you something."

He nodded," What is it?"

" What are the rules again?"

Izuku just stared at her blankly not fully understanding. However, when it finally sunk into his brain that she didn't know the rules Astra was sure he was about to short circuit. Then he went on a long explanation about the rules.

"The game lasted fifteen minutes total. There are groups of four and each player is worth a certain amount of points. Indivual points were added together to create your team total."

Astra nodded, showing she understood. Izuku placed first in the qualifier so his score would be the highest. She supposed it was a burden to be the best. It was true, it's hard to be at the top, even harder to stay at the top. If it were easy everyone would be the best.

"The headband the rider of the group is wearing, shows how much their team is worth. In the game we're supposed to snatch as many headbands as we can in order to raise the score. The headbands taken had to be worn from the neck up."

Astra nodded again, the more they stole, the harder it would be to manage all those bands. But Astra didn't think they'd be doing a lot of snatching. Their team would have such a high score, they'd be the ones running away," We can use our quirks as much as we like. But there are a few rules, make a team fall on purpose and we'll be disqualified."

Astra looked around her and noticed everyone stuck to who they knew, it would be too much of a gamble to team up with strangers. And it made sense to Astra, the students who were in the same class were probably more aware of what quirks work with what and who they were compatible with.

Astra grimaced at the amount of thinking involved with such a task and hoped Izuku would take over in that aspect of their plan. After listening to him speak for what felt like hours, but was probably only minutes Astra summered a few things. She stared at Izuku for a moment, something becoming all too clear now," Is that why no one wants to be your partner?"

Izuku sighed," Pretty much."

Astra shrugged, she'd never abandoned a team mate simply because they were the best before. Erza would have her head if she were ever that condescending and a shiver went down the brunettes back at the thought of Erza coming from across the galaxy just to beat her up. Turning back to her friend she smiled and shrugged again," Oh well, now let's go to Ochako. I think she wants to join."

" You think so?" He sounded so hopefully and Astra swore the boy was about to cry a river. She pulled him along and from the corner of her eye watched as Izuku's ears were red again. Astra chuckled and walked towards the girl," Girlie!" Astra called out, earning a look of confusion from Ochako," You wanna join us?"

She immediately perked up," Oh yes! Let's do well together. We can definitely win this game!" Her joy fullness was almost infectious and Astra had to look away for fear of becoming as happy as this girl.
