LOUIS
When Harry told Louis he wasn't a match for Matty, his word shattered once more. He had placed a lot of hope in the chance Harry was going to be able to help Matty without having to involve another baby in the already weird situation. But things hadn't gone that way, and as Harry promised he had gone in to the IVF clinic the following week and he had made his... deposit.
That had happened exactly 6 days ago, which was the time the clinic needed to put his eggs and Harry's sperm together, develop embryos and test them to see if they were a match. Now, Louis had gone in to hopefully get one or more of that embryos transferred into his womb.
"Mr. Tomlinson, it's nice to see you again" Dr. Porter said as she walked inside the office where Louis was waiting.
"Likewise" Louis said as he shook her hand.
He was nervous, he was really hoping for good news.
"Let's go straight to it, alright?" Dr. Porter said.
"Yes".
"As you know, when we extracted your eggs we were able to get four of them, and when the sperm was deposited we put the sperm and the eggs together on an incubator, and all for eggs were fertilized. However, one of them stopped developing the third day, which happens sometimes, it's not uncommon" Dr. Porter explained and Louis nodded "The other three continued developing and they all reached the blastocyst stage, which was this morning when we tested them, but only one of them is a match for your son".
"So that one will be implanted?" Louis wondered.
"That's correct" the doctor nodded "But I want you to be aware that, although you're healthy and in perfect condition to conceive, there's a probability that pregnancy won't be achieved. If that's the case we can try again if that's what you want".
"I know" Louis nodded "But I have faith it will work".
"That's a good attitude Mr. Tomlinson" Dr. Porter smiled "I'm really hoping for a good outcome".
"Thanks" Louis said "Oh, and uhm... the remaining embryos, you're going to freeze them, right?".
"Yes, that's what you requested last time you were here, so that's what's happening" Dr. Ported nodded.
"Perfect" Louis smiled.
The alternative was to have the embryos destroyed, and Louis didn't have the heart to do that; they could be just embryos, but they had the potential to be babies, his babies, and he wasn't going to allow to have them destroyed, even if keeping them was really expensive.
"I'm going to go prepare to do the procedure, a nurse will be here shortly to take you to the room and help you get ready" the doctor explained.
"Thank you doctor" Louis told her.
A few minutes after the doctor left a nurse showed up at the office and led him to the room where the procedure was going to be done and gave him a gown to change into. The whole thing was quick and painless, and truthfully, it was also kind of unreal, he was actually going through with what at first was only a random idea that Niall threw out there, he was going to (hopefully) have another baby. But he felt it was right, because he was doing something to help Matty instead of just sitting around waiting for some miracle bone marrow donor to appear out of thin air, and to be honest, he couldn't wait to have a tiny baby in his arms again.
When the procedure was done and Louis was told he was free to go, he drove to the hospital, he had decided to take the afternoon off from work so he could have the procedure done without stressing about having to go back to the office to meet clients. And besides, it was also Eleanor's day off from work, which of course didn't mean Matty had been left alone, Niall was with him, but he couldn't make Niall spend so much time in the hospital when he had his own kids to spend time with.
