Chapter 4 - A New Role

Paige's POV -

Paige took deep, shaky breaths. The world was spinning, and she couldn't think straight.

As she sat on a log in the woods, her phone pinged, and she drew it out of her pocket.

Turning on the screen, Paige wished she had not checked it.

The notifications were all about her and Sadie Sink. About how they had begun dating.

All she wanted to do in that moment was throw her phone down into the nearby stream. She was quite certain the device wouldn't survive.

Instead, Paige gathered herself and her emotions, and after a few moments, got up and brushed herself off. She had run away from the one person who had made her the happiest, and just thinking about the redhead who was surely worried out of her mind did little to ease the pain.

Now she felt guilty... but she couldn't go back. At least not yet. Not when the whole wide world most likely knew about her and Sadie's relationship.

It was better to just stay put. Stay lost. Where not a single soul could think to discover her.
